Blog Posts: Lyrical Lemonade

Lyrical Lemonade is a multimedia company and music platform founded by Cole Bennett in 2013. Initially starting as a blog to showcase Chicago’s local music scene, Lyrical Lemonade has since evolved into a prominent brand in the music industry. The company gained widespread recognition for its visually distinctive and creatively curated music videos, often featuring vibrant and animated visuals that complement the artists’ music.

Lyrical Lemonade has played a significant role in promoting emerging artists and helping them gain exposure. Cole Bennett, the founder, has directed music videos for various well-known artists, contributing to the company’s reputation for fostering talent in the hip-hop and rap genres. Beyond music videos, Lyrical Lemonade has expanded its reach through music festivals, events, and merchandise, solidifying its position as a multifaceted entity within the entertainment landscape.

Lyrical Lemonade is now one of the biggest music media companies in the United States, and I decided to share this blog about it because as a creative Lyrical Lemonade is a staple in the community and is an example of persistence with dedication can result in success.

Thoughts on “Mother Tongue”

One thing I found interesting in the text “Mother Tongue” is the author’s initial words, “ I was keenly made aware of the different Englishes I do use.” She then goes on to explain her mother’s “broken version” of English and how she is able to understand her mother but others would judge her limited English. This is something that most children of immigrants can easily relate to and have an idea of.

INTRODUCTORY POST

Yoo, my name is Shemar, aka Mar, aka Mr 411, aka 411Mar. I’m 18 and a Brooklyn native, I attended school at South Shore High School in Canarsie. About 10 months ago I discovered my new profound passion for creating art through conceptual photography, it’s a pretty cool story on how I got started.

Throughout 2022, I went viral multiple times on TikTok due to some of the pictures I would post and the videos I would make, a consistent comment throughout all my videos was “What camera do you use?” and I replied with “I don’t have one, all photos taken on my phone.” Then one day before school, I posted a video with the caption, “More and more and more. I have so many project ideas, I just need the camera.” A couple of hours later someone commented, “Selling mine with lenses!” Crazy right? “The golden offer” is what I called it at the time, this comment changed everything.

Since then, I’ve gone on to make 7 different conceptual projects for the year primarily based on black culture, and I have 5 left to complete my goal of 12 projects in 12 months. I’ve done multiple different private shoots, I became that “camera guy” at my high school, and I had my art displayed on gallery walks in museums and studios. And I’m only getting started.

The end goal, is to take my creativity to another level, maybe direct a movie one day. Either way don’t forget the numbers 411.

With that being said, y’all should check out my work on Instagram @411Marr, If you ever need pictures taken, don’t ever hesitate to hit me up, bookings at https://411mar.com. If you ever want to talk to me about anything I mentioned or want to be a part of the 411 project, feel free to come up and talk to me. Below, I’m going to include a picture from one of my projects.
