Today, I was quite nervous that I wasn’t going to know anyone in the class and that maybe you would just jump straight into doing work. But it turns out that I saw some familiar faces but you, as a teacher, was pretty chill and laid back which isn’t bad because you can help make the process from high school to college much more easier.
The expectations I had about the class match what I experienced today. I expected that the class wasn’t going to have a lot of students and that is how it was. I like the small classroom environment because we are able to interact with the professor more. I also thought we would go straight into doing some work but I like how we all shared our thoughts about how our semester will be. The professor was very clear with the information he told us and explained the syllabus step by step. I can see the professor has a real passion for the class and showed that he wants all his students to excel in this course.
Entering the class, I expected to see an old man with a lot of white hair but that was not the case. I liked how we were able to interact with the professor as I thought the class would be bigger but it was really small. This allows for voices to be heard louder and we can become more confident when it’s time to read our pieces.
I expected the class to be very boring, and we would just talk about writing skills and read the syllabus. However, the class and the professor were very engaging. we had an ice breaker which allowed us to interact with new people and learn more about them as well as discuss our opinions on certain topics, which I enjoyed.
Since this was our first class, I thought there would be more students. I love that our class only has 19 students because it will help me focus better in class. Additionally, I also assumed that our professor would be really boring; however, he turned out to be very engaging and conversational. This is very beneficial to me because I learn the best when we are discussing or talking about a certain topic.
This class was different from what I expected it to be because there weren’t as many readings for the semester as I thought. Before attending this class, I assumed that we would be reading and analyzing lengthy books and writing essays about them. However, it turns out that we only have one book to read that is focused on different writing techniques. I thought that I would have to read a deep and inspiring college level text that I would have to pick apart for a good grade.
This was the first time that during the first day of class i left home really happy. Usually during the first day, the class can sometimes be boring because, the teachers are introducing the class. However, the way the professor presented the first day lecture, it was really engaging and he was really funny which i really like in a professor. The more funny a professor is the better the students will be able to learn. To sum it up, I had a really low expectation during the first day. However, that expectation has increased at the end.
Class was different from what I expected it to be because I expected to walk into a room full of scholars. However the class was much smaller, which made me less nervous. I also expected the syllabus to be full with more long essay assignments. But what actually transpired is when I opened up the syllabus I realized that it was less than I expected it to be. Which made me feel confident that I can possibly get an A in this class.
The class was different from how I had expected it to be because I have been told many times from a various amount of people that English courses in colleges and/or universities may tend to be more rigorous and boring and filled with a lot of assignments having to do strong analyses of either work from Shakespeare or of famous poets and I personally don’t like reading Shakespeare or having to analyze poetry, which sounds odd since I am an English major, but the class was actually the complete opposite of my expectations. I enjoyed how vibrant the energy felt in the classroom with the professor and I am also enthusiastic to do the assignments and have the opportunity to improve my writing at a stronger professional level.
When first seeing Writing I on my schedule I immediately thought it’d be a huge lecture class of 100 students but it turned out to be a pretty small class. I think this will be very helpful throughout the semester. I also expected for the class to be more based on a specific text but I enjoyed hearing that we’ll be writing on topics that interests each one of us individually. The professor’s energy was great as well. I look forward to being in this class this semester.
I was expecting the class environment to be more strict then it was but it was very at ease and I was able to communicate with some people and become friends. I liked how the professor seemed very easy going. I think I will be able to ace this class and achieve my writing goals. I believe I will be able to express myself better though this writing class as it seemed very manageable.
Our first class matched my expectations. I expected the class to be small and for the professor to go over the syllabus since it was our first class together. Also, I enjoyed the professor’s energy and how he was very down to earth. Since English is my favorite subject I am confident in myself that I will get an A this semester and will be able to advance my writing skills.
This first-class was very different from what I was expecting because of the ice breaker we did to introduce ourselves to you and the class. I expected us to say our names, major, and where we’re from but you haduspartner up with someone and tell each other about ourselves and then tested our memory. I also expected to get straight into reading because I didn’t think we had to introduce ourselves but we did. So far I am really excited to see what we’ll be doing next in this class and I enjoyed the first day so I’m sure I’ll like the rest.
My expectations going into English class was way different than what I imagined it to actually be. going into college you get the idea that all classes are massive and the professor just gives lectures and assigns a ton of work, but that wasn’t the case. the class is actually pretty small and gives me an opportunity to have a bigger relationship with the professor in terms of communicating and getting a high quality education that most students can not relate to. The class also had a lot of familiar faces which made me feel comfortable, which I believe will play a key role into the class which will make the outcome for this fall semester, very positive.
Going to my first English class I was thinking that the class was going to be huge and and the professor was going to be strict and that’s one of the reasons why I was nervous. But actually in that class it’s the opposite of what I was think the professor is really out going and that helps students make the adjustments from high school to college. And the class is about 19 students and that’s just like the amount I had in high school.
I thought that I was going to sleep in this class as most of the english classes tend to be full of boring lectures. However, this clearly wasn’t the case for this class and I’m very attentive in this class. I also thought that we were going to do a lot of Shakespeare’s works and I was just not ready for. But, that didn’t happen and i’m glad that it didn’t happen.
