What topic will you research for your final paper? What guiding questions have you come up with thus far?
BONUS: Watch both the TEDx Talk by Marie-Jeanne Ndimbira and the CNN special on her. Post at least one question that you have for her, as she will be a guest in our class on Thursday, 11/11.
My topic of research paper is gonna be: raising the minimum wage will help increase economy mobility.
Marie-Jeanne Ndimbira is a great woman who speak for Africans and help the children connect to them selfs. One question for her is that: when do you want to became a Change maker? Why?
Great topic, Jia. I look forward to reading your paper!
This is an interesting question. I look forward to hearing MJ’s answer.
Should sex education be taught in schools? This is the question that I want to answer on my research paper.
Question: From what age did you have the initiative idea to help the African community?
Great topic, Daniela! I’m curious to hear about why you chose this topic.
This is an excellent question!
The topic for the final paper:
Why does rock music soothe the body or brain in order to work out?
Guiding Questions:
What other music do people usually like to hear when they work out?
Question for Marie-Jeanne Ndimbira:
Do you think music helps out people when they are going through tough situations?
Have you recommended music in order to help others with what they’re going through?
These are interesting questions, Derek. I might rephrase the first one to read something like, “What does rock music do to our bodies that gets us excited/motivated to work out?”
I like how your question for MJ is connected to you topic. Nice work.
Thank you for the recommendation.
My topic for my research paper:
– Racism in the Dominican Republic (or racism in the United States)
Questions:
1. What keeps you motivated to do the things you do?
2. What do you think about racism? How has it impact society nowadays? Do you think it changed? In what ways?
3. What do you think about society standards?
4. What are your hobbies?
5. What is something that made you do what you do today? (basically your exigence)
This is quite a large topic, Laura. I think maybe “Racism in Hispanic communities” might be a good place to start.
I love that you included the word “exigence” in one of your questions. This made me smile.
My research paper will be about whether the penny should be abolished or not. One question I have in mind is, “Do the benefits of abolishing the penny outweigh the disadvantages of its abolition?”
Wow. This is super interesting. I don’t know how much information that there is on this, but I’m sure you will find out quickly as you begin to do your research.
My topic for my research paper is dreams, and some guiding questions are:
1. How do dreams impact our mental wellbeing?
2. In what ways do dreams affect our mood?
3. Why is it important for the brain to continue dreaming?
Questions for Marie-Jeanne Ndimbira:
1. What are some setbacks that you encountered in the process of starting the PAY program?
2. How were you able to connect with the kids and make them feel comfortable?
3. Did the biographies that you read in your childhood inspire you to become a change maker?
I love to read about dreams, so I’m excited to see what you find! Great topic.
Also, these are excellent questions for MJ. Great work.
My topic of research paper is how music influences mental health? What makes us feel certain way about it?
Question for Marie: what specifically led you to the work of your life to become the changer for youth? What are the few steps we can do to make the change? What are your other idea how we can make world better place?
My topic for research paper is about why is it necessary to play games?
my guiding questions will be:
1. Why people think it is bad to playing games?
2. What are some benefits of playing games?
Bonus question to Marie-Jeanne Ndimbira:
1. What makes you wanted to help African community?
2. Is being a person who wanted to change the society related to your past experiences?
What kind of games are you talking about, Rongxin?
I particularly like the second question that you would like to ask MJ.
This is a great topic, Lidiia.
These questions for MJ are good. I might not ask the last question just because it is a bit too broad, though.
Bonus question: The kids in the PAY program have more amenities, like cycling and swimming, than those who are not part of PAY. Do you think that kids outside of the program are less likely to be comfortable talking about their likes and dislikes?
I am not sure how this question connects your first point here, Erika, but we can discuss this in class today.
