As you finish up your last work for the semester, class, I want to ask you to keep in mind how far you’ve come since the end of August. Each of you has moved forward with ideas, skills, knowledge, and/or understanding in some significant way, both in relation to the topics we discussed and in other ways. It’s good, and useful, to mark that growth.

One way that I keep track of my own growth is through student assessments. If you haven’t yet taken a few minutes to fill out an evaluation for English 2150, please do; you should have received an email from the college with information about how to do so. Your evaluations really mean something to me. They’re completely anonymous (and I won’t even see the results until next semester), but I’ll really take to heart your comments about what worked for you and what didn’t and use that information to improve my teaching in future courses. Also, student evaluations are one quick and effective way for you, as students, to have a clear voice and direct impact on the shape of the student experience at Baruch. Don’t pass up the chance to help make the community better.

Thanks again for all your hard work this semester. Keep honing your writing tools; they’ll serve you all through college and beyond. And keep in touch! I love hearing from former students.
