Follow the steps below to make sure your blog has the functionality you need and want and represents your work in the best possible way.

  1. Familiarize yourself with your settings, and make sure your audience can fully access your blog.
  2. Your blog is a virtual representation of you and your work. Make it look right.
    • If you’re still using the standard Blogs@Baruch theme for your blog, find a different one.
    • If you have access to suitable, personalized images you can upload, do so. If not, look forĀ  public-domain images (that is, ones you can use without a copyright) that suit the feel of your site, and upload those. If you have images in mind that you’d like to use but don’t have access to now, make a note to yourself to do so as soon as you can.
    • Are there other visual touches you can add to make your blog more appealing?
  3. Get rid of any dummy text (the placeholder material that appears automatically.
  4. Are there elements you want to add or take away? Sidebars? Menus? Edit your blog according to how you want it to appear. Ask for help if you’re not sure how to make changes.
  5. Look at the title of your blog and your headings. Are these interesting enough to appeal to an audience? Make improvements.
  6. Can your readers find what they are seeking? Take steps to better organize the work on your blog.
  7. Step back and do an overall check. Is there anything else you can do to improve your blog?
