Response Paper #1

Focus on either the excerpt from Friedrich A. Hayek, The Road to Serfdom or the excerpt from Thomas Piketty, Capital in the Twenty-First Century.  As succinctly as you can, summarize the author’s central argument, explaining the central points he makes in your own words. Then indicate whether you agree or disagree with his position and explain why.

Remember: this is just a response paper.  You are not responsible for covering everything the author argues.  Your job is to figure out the author’s main argument and find a concise way to summarize it.  You will probably also not have the space to articulate all of the reasons you might have for agreeing or disagreeing.  Focus on what you think is most important.
