Introduction

Hello class, my name is Autumn and I am a sophomore at Baruch. I absolutely love to cook all different kinds of food from different countries. The bigger the challenge the more fun I end up having. I am a finance major here at Baruch and considering a minor in psychology. I also occasionally paint when I can get my hands on an easel (art supply stores are not close to me). I look forward to getting to know all of you and learning in this class.

I chose this image of the Grand Canyon because I find it beautiful and relaxing. The southwest is one of my favorite areas in the world and this image respresents endless possibility to me. The stretching horizon and the deep valley looks as if it could go on forever.

Jerry’s Intro

Hello everyone, my name is Jerry and I’m currently a sophmore at Baruch.  I’ve lived in New York City my whole life and currently live in the Upper West Side.  I plan to major in Finance with the hopes of take my personal business to the next level.

I’ve always been a huge fan of basketball, but obligations off the court have always left me with little to no time to enjoy what I like to do.  Apart from being a full time student, I work under a few people who’ve made it in the competitive world of business.  A typical day for me consists of going to school and running around the city fulfilling the many tasks at hand.  The only time I have to just be myself is in the morning where I get to cook breakfast and go for my morning jog around Central Park.  I look forward to seeing what this semester has is store for us!

Tania’s Introduction

Hi my name is Tania Dorado. I have lived in NYC practically all my life. I was born in Mexico and raised in Long Island City, Queens at the age of five. My major is marketing, focusing in the entertainment industry.

I have two pets, a shih-Tzu mix named Coco and I recently adapted a kitten named Toby. Cats and dogs can definitely get along. When I’m not working I like to read mystery books or ones that don’t always have a happy ending. That’s the same with movies, I’d rather watch thriller movies than happy films. Other than that one of the hobbies that I love to do is to go to concerts mainly, to alternative rock concerts.

I chose this picture because not only do I like trees and forest but it shows an open road that could lead to anywhere. I want to travel to any places as much as I can and just explore different cultures and vibes with my close friends.

Eliyahu Schmukler’s Intro

My name is Eliyahu, which is Hebrew for Elijah, but everyone calls me Elie. I was born in Staten Island, NY and have lived in New York City my whole life. I am a 2nd Degree student with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. I am back in school to pursue a degree in Real Estate Development.

I have a love for nature and adventure. I have been skiing since I was 6 years old, in Killington, Vermont. The picture with the ski trail is an actual junction on the mountain, in which I have conquered all those trails. On tropical vacations I try to interact with marine life, whether it be humpback whale watching in Hawaii, swimming with and holding dolphins and stingrays in the Cayman Islands or submersing myself in a tank with reef sharks and nursery sharks in the Bahamas. I always love to push my limits to new heights and look forward to the next adventure.

Luke

Hi everyone! I’m Luke Porcari and I’m a freshman from Long Island majoring in either finance or public affairs (I have to decide soon!)  I’m an avid reader and always have a book with me wherever I go.  I read mostly history and philosophy but a little bit of fiction here and there too.  I have a beagle named Bella who wakes me up at 5 AM every morning so that she can begin her day by running around my house.

Another thing about me is that I love politics.  I’ve actually interned on two different political campaigns so far, and had a lot of fun doing it! It’s a lot of work but it really is a good experience being able ot go into your community and really get a sense of people’s concerns and the issues they care about.

I love to travel and have been to Italy twice! I went there the summers before both my freshman and sophomore years of high school.  I have some relatives to live over there so we spent time visiting with them but we also got to travel around the country a bit and see all the big cities.

I’ve included a picture of some books to represent my love of reading!

Diana Zuluaga’s Introduction

Hey guys, I’m Diana and it’s my first semester at Baruch. I recently graduated from City Tech in Brooklyn. My nationality is Colombian, so yes English is my second language. I arrived when I was nine years old, to a small town in New Jersey called Bogota. Coincidently Bogota happens to be the capital of Colombia, so that was pretty interesting to me. Little did I know, it was a completely different world from the Bogota I was familiar with. I did not know a word of English, and unfortunately New Jersey had no ESL classes (just like the video we watched yesterday in class). It was hard at first, but somehow I got used to it. A year later I moved to Astoria, Queens were the Hispanic community was a lot wider, making it easier for me to make friends and get a hold of the language. I learned pretty fast and grew to love this country.

I consider myself an active person.  I’m outdoorsy and enjoy rock climbing, hiking, rollerblading on my free time as well as running and working out.  I love to draw and design but I’m in school for Marketing. I believe business is the way to go in this competitive world. This is a little introduction of myself and i’m looking forward to getting to know some valuable people in Baruch. Best of luck for everyone.

Zuzanna Introduction

Hello! My name is Zuzanna and I am a freshman at Baruch. I have recently moved to Bushwick, Brooklyn from Staten Island, although I am originally from Poland. I like to cook and bake for fun because I am completely obsessed with food. I especially love to spend my free time eating and watching Netflix. This is my first hybrid class so I’m not really sure what to expect, but I’m definitely looking forward to the spring semester!

Michal Jacobs-Introductions

Hi everyone! My name is Michal Jacobs, I am from New Jersey, but recently moved to New York City to be closer to Baruch College, which allows me to explore and be my adventurous self. Other than my family and puppy, some other things that are important to me are sports, specifically basketball, which I play and watch as often as I can, and binge watching my favorite shows. At first, usually I could be a little shy, but pretty soon after you will probably have heard enough of my voice. My entire life, I have gone to a private school in New Jersey and took a gap year after high school, which was my favorite year of my life, so coming from a small private school to Baruch College has been a big adjustment for me, but I do love it and can’t wait to continue all of my courses. Looking forward!

Dennis Dayan

I am a freshman here at Baruch, but I’ve lived in New York City for the majority of my life. I moved to Denver, CO for a couple of years a while back, so I consider myself a proficient skier now. My passion is sports, ask me anything. I have a small white puppy who pretty much eats up half of my time at home… and all of our leftovers. Sometimes I will drive somewhere far just for the fun of it.

My life, however casual it may seem, is pretty hectic, like every other New Yorker’s. I am either in school, doing work, working a part-time job, or walking my dog. He’s two, so he has lots of energy to exert. On slow days I may act as my family’s chauffeur; picking up and dropping off my two younger siblings or grabbing some groceries to make dinner. I, like many other fast paced locals, am also a coffee addict, and I would even stretch to call myself a connoisseur. Cold-brew coffee is my go to, and a small local shop is literally down the block from me, and entices me to dole out an exorbitant amount daily for their specialty.

Cars, Sports, Tennis and Coffee. We’ve pretty much covered it.

Denys Piddubnyi

Hello!

My name is Denys Piddubnyi. I was born in Ukraine and came to the US six years ago. I live in Brooklyn in safe and nice area – Bensonhurst. It’s a little far from the city but because of it my apartment is big and affordable. I live with to friends and we like to hang out together when we free.

I work full time as an event manager in event planning company. I work with it for 3 years and I really like it because every day, every event I do is not the same one I did yesterday. We have a big team and over all our company is about 500 people. I’m doing my best to manage my schedule between work and school but sometimes it is hard.

This is my 2 semester in Baruch and I enjoying my time here. My major is Finance and I hope to get it as sooner as possible.

When I have a free time (almost never) I like to play airsoft. Airsoft is like a paintball but the difference is the balls in airsoft are plastic and hits harder.

Thank you for this class professor and looking forward to have a great spring semester.

I choose this picture because I like animal and I have a cat at my home. Cat’s are super independent animals they don’t need you until they time you MUST feed them. Sometimes my cat shows me who’s in charge in the house and very often – it’s him!)

Emily Weiss

Hello all, my name is Emily and I am now starting my second semester here at Baruch through MHC. I live in Manhattan (something that’s always been a dream of mine) and I try to take advantage of the city as much as I can! I love meeting new people and going out, and my absolute favorite thing to do is to travel. I am infatuated with thought of trekking to new places and experiencing all that’s out there in the world. I am also really into photography, especially that of nature and scenes whether it’s right here at home or on a trip! I have been to (and taken many pictures) in Spain, Costa Rica, Saint Martin, Mexico, Greece, and all throughout the US. I’m sooo looking forward to this summer where I will be visiting friends and backpacking through Germany, France, Amsterdam, Switzerland, and (hopefully) Poland for 6-8 weeks!

Here’s one pic from a trip to Greece 🙂

Michelle- Intro

Hi everyone! My name is Michelle and I’m starting my second semester here at Baruch. I’m from New Jersey and have been commuting for my first semester, but recently have just moved into an apartment closer to school (cutting off my commute time by over an hour!). I’m very excited to be living and exploring the city like a resident and not like a tourist (as I usually do!). Something I like to do when I have the time is baking, because it’s a way to be creative while making a sweet treat! Looking forward to another great semester!!

Intro: Borys

Hi there, my name is Borys and we are going to be classmates for a couple months or so. Anyways, a little about myself; I commute here daily from Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn and currently reside with my parents, but hopefully that’ll change sometime in the near future. Originally I’m from Uman, a little town located near the capital of Ukraine. I visit my family there every summer and always stay up to date with Ukrainian news incase any of you are interested. Not only do I travel to Ukraine every summer, over the years I have visited France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Israel. I personally enjoy traveling across Europe and viewing the different but beautiful landscapes and cultures.

Maria Wu Cen

I am from Brooklyn. Something interesting about me is that my birthday is on March 14th, which is also Pi-day. This might be why I am good in math and was in the math major during my high school career. I like to make origami and solve puzzles. My favorite dessert is macaroon, although it is quite expensive. My New Year’s resolution is to make macaroons myself and share them with family and friends. I am looking forward to improving my writing skills and having fun with the blog.

The picture below shows a relaxing and peaceful environment. I hope my future will be as bright as the background light. I chose this because I am a peaceful person. I do not like to argue, especially for silly things. I also like to be close with nature. Being in the city is great, but at the same time, we are pretty spoiled. We have the luxury of electricity, internet, and almost everything; however, when the electricity is out, we feel like it is the end of the world. Other states such as Maine, where it is like the country/camping area, it feels different. It is a place where you can have your “alone” time and to be away from your cellphone. I only went camping once, and I loved it.

Ming Y

I’ve always wanted to pursue law. I think it’s mainly due to my being involved in my school’s Model UN Club, and since I took an internship at a law firm. But since I’m at Baruch, it might be best pursue business? or finance? Actually, there’s no major or minor in particular that is desired for those who wish to go to law school. But majoring in business will be the most efficient since Baruch is known for its business programs. I’ve always enjoyed political comedy, so I spend time watching The Late Show and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Politics and memes mesh really together.hided from biden

Sarah Pinhasov

I’m currently an undergraduate at Baruch in my second semester. My intended major is finance, not really surprising considering Baruch is known for its business school, but I am also on the pre-med track. One of my favorite things to do is to travel and I plan on studying abroad sometime during the next few years. I love traveling and having the opportunity to visit new places and experience new cultures. Being on an airplane on my way towards a new place or even somewhere I’ve already been always makes me happy.

Introduction

My name is Katherine Vaskevich; although, many friends and family members call me Katya. I usually avoid telling people to call me that because it takes a while for them to pronounce it even remotely correct. I have always found writing to be an outlet for my thoughts and emotions. My utmost love and respect for animals found ways to creep up even in my research and analytical papers for English classes. I am a huge advocate for animal rights.

busy

This picture accurately represents me because I always have multiple tasks at hand. I find myself to be busy quite frequently, but I would prefer to be busy than to have nothing to do. Currently, I am balancing classes, a part-time job and a few private tutoring lessons that I teach. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, I will also be volunteering at an animal shelter.
