I recommend eating a burger with fries. I believed that Mcdonald’s was the first fast-food restaurant and the “father of burgers” for most of my life. I, of course, never researched this, which is why it was surprising to see that White Castle invented burgers. Crazy right? I have never even heard of White Castle until I searched it up. Most of the time, I would get burgers from places such as Shake shack or McDonald’s because they are the most well-known places to get fast food from. Not only was White Castle the first place to sell burgers, but they were invented by a german man named Otto Kuase. So thank you, Otto Kuase you have many millions of people happy from eating your fantastic invention.
If I had the choice, I would eat burgers almost every week. Unfortunately, I can’t because overeating greasy food can cause unhealthy diets, so I only eat them on special occasions. Not going to lie though, I have been eating burgers for as long as I can remember. However, I consider my first time eating a “real” burger to be in 2011. I had just moved in from Woodside into Sunnyside, Queens. This might not seem like a massive difference since I moved from 61 street to 46 street, but the neighborhoods were utterly different. Everything was way closer, and the building looked brand new. I was honestly amazed by the sight of my new home. My family and I began to walk around to try and become familiar with the new environment.
We then happen to stumble upon a restaurant named Brothers Cafe. We were all hungry from walking all day long and decided to grab a bite. As soon as we walked in, I could smell all types of food, Pasta, Flautas, Frijoladas, and Burritos. My stomach began to grumble. I was so hungry that I could devour anything. A nice lady then approached us and sat us down before offering us some menus. The menu was so big, but being a picky kid, I would always get my usual meal a burger with some fries. My dad placed our order, and we waited for around 10 minutes before the waiter brought us the food. My mouth began to water, seeing the crispy golden-brown fries and freshly grilled burger walk towards me. As soon as the waiter placed the burger down, I took my first bite. My eyes widened because the burger was terrific. I could taste the pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, coleslaw, and the well-cooked patty.
Ever since then, I have always considered that place to be fancy. I would go there for special occasions such as birthdays, graduations, and small gatherings. I saw it as a way to show appreciation to someone by introducing them to a new burger place. In all, I recommend you to eat a burger and not from just any fast food place but a dinner. They usually have the best-tasting burgers. You will be surprised.
Hi Sydney,
I like the way you started out your post and brought in the history of White Castle. I actually did not know that so it was something that I got out of your post. I also really liked how you included a memory of when you first encountered burgers at Brothers Cafe. I think its nice to include what you could taste from then burger and how it differs from other burger places.
Hey Sydney,
I like how you introduced the burger by mentioning fast food places. I actually did not know that White Castle had significance in the burger. I like how you told us about your first experience with the burger with a memory from your childhood. I thought it was interesting and personal, making it engaging and easy to read.
Hey Sydney,
I really enjoyed reading your post! I am now craving a burger. I loved how you gave a brief history about burgers and how you directly talked to the reader. I felt like we were having a conversation. I also liked who you included the memory of you trying your first “real” burger. I was able to relate because I also love eating burgers. My favorite burger comes from the restaurant Cheeburger Cheeburger in Forest Hills. I recommend you go there! It is like build-a-bear but for burgers!
