1. Research Proposals Due: Before our class on Monday, April 12th – Please upload your proposal to our shared Google Doc folder, and give your file the title “Your Name – Research Proposal”. Your proposal can be written in paragraph form or presented as an outline or bulleted list, but it must include the following:
- Articulation of the central question you are seeking to answer.
- Detailed description of the problem your paper will address.
- List of “sub-questions” that you anticipate will be part of your research.
- Explanation of why you think this topic is important and interesting.
2. Creative-Remix Ideas Due: Before our class on Wednesday, April 14th – This is a brainstorming assignment, not a commitment. Before class on Wednesday, please share three possible ideas for the shape your Creative Remix might take. You can share your ideas in the form of a comment on this post. In your comment, tell us the focus of your Analytical Research Paper and then offer three ideas for the Creative Remix. Be sure that your ideas are do-able, align with your interests and abilities, and have some connection to your research topic. Keep in mind that this is an opportunity for creativity.
3. Research Methodologies – Our class on Wednesday will focus on Research Methodologies, in particular on how to find useful sources and then what to do with them once we find them. Please come to class on Wednesday prepared with a question you want to ask about this process.
In my analytical paper I will be discussing whether current food trends like glitter foods, gold foods, and coffee cocktails are safe to eat or harmful.
– Write a song about a specific food or more than one food that may seem like it could be about something else.
– Write 3 poems for each food trend I’m discussing or one poem using every food.
– Create a photo essay with all the pretty trends along with descriptions of research information.
For my analytical research paper I am going to be focusing on why there are so many fats food chains and not enough affordable supermarkets.
One thing I can do for my creative remix is write a poem about how it feels walking down the street and seeing only fast food places.
Another idea could be that I make an interactive map that shows what it is like in my neighborhood. So the audience knows what i’m talking about when I say there’s fats food places all over.
The last idea could be that I make a social media based project asking people on social media whether they have any affordable supermarkets in their neighborhood and where they live.
In my analytical paper, I will be focusing on the relationship between food and mood.
One thing I can do for my creative re-mix is creating a video explaining how food and mood are related and maybe provide some tips related to the topic.
Also, another idea is that I can create a short story writing about how a person’s food choice affected their mood and how he/she felt; results.
Lastly, I can possibly create a photo essay by providing as many photos as possible to let the audience understand what my research essay was about. No words will have to be mentioned though many important photos will be shown to relate them to the essay.
My topic is the influence of food delivery apps on the food industry and economy.
I am thinking:
1- An interview with people who consistently order food with food delivery apps.
2- A interactive map that focuses on where food delivery serviced are most prominent.
3- A photo essay detailing the experience of eating at home compared to indoor dining.
For my analytical paper, I will be focusing on fast food places including healthier choices.
One possible idea that I can do for my creative re-mix would be a social media based project where I can ask people about fast food having healthier options or some questions in that area.
Another possible idea that I can do is creative writing where I write a short story.
Finally, I can do a photo essay where I include captions under pictures of fast food options and do a before and after healthier options were included.
In my analytical paper, I will be focusing on the harsh working conditions of migrant workers on farms.
– I could do a photo essay about migrant workers on the field and write captions about their story.
– I could write a short story where readers are able to understand the working conditions through the perspective of a young migrant farmer.
– I could also write short poems through the perspective of migrant farmers.
In my analytical paper, I am focusing on how social media affects a women’s diet and food choice.
For my creative remix, I am thinking of writing a poem about how social media makes you feel and think nowadays. Another idea I have is doing a short story and lastly, I am considering doing an interview and getting the perspective of a woman and how social media influences her diet and certain health choices.
The focus of my Analytic Research Paper is how McDonald’s marketing affects consumers.
For my creative remix, I am thinking about creating a photo essay.
Another idea that I am thinking of doing is a blog talking about McDonald’s marketing effect.
Lastly, I am thinking of doing something around visual arts, like a collage or cartoon.
The focus of my analytic research paper are grocery stores in NYC, why there is a difference in some stores in wealthy vs poor areas and possibly the grocery gap

In my analytical paper I will be researching is about the struggles/ challenges migrant farmers have to go through.

– A collage to expose the conditions these migrant farmers have to go through
– A diary entry of me portraying a migrant worker
-A podcast with someone I know that has been a migrnat worker and left due to the conditions
For my analytical paper, I will be focusing on the extent of restaurant work provides for a living.
