Artist Statement

As a musician I have always felt that I was missing something tremendously by not partaking in the visual art field and I would like to change that. I want to add mediums through which I can express myself, sometimes music is not the correct medium or the one I wish to use and I have always wished to create visual art. Video has always spoken to me. I want to depict and make my subjects come to life through video. Through my video art I would like to focus on living subjects. I would like to use strong colors in my work and become more proficient at using my DSLR camera. I am also looking forward to learning to use premiere to edit my work more carefully than standard in-camera editing will allow. A few video artists I admire are Christian Marclay and Pipilotti Rist. I like the creativity in their work, I also like how their art feels very personal and authentic, while retaining a level of fun.
