Donald Trump vs. a Free Press

The editorial that this post references can be seen at the Link Above,
Anyway, this editorial piece is about how Donald Trump had threatened to sue The New York times for Libel \ SLANDer for the ways that The Times had written out about Trump’s controversy with groping women in the past.
Moving forward then, The New York times announced that part of the reason why Donald Trump is motivated to sue The New York Times is since in Trump’s beliefs, The Times had failed to adequately provide truth on Trump’s claims over this controversy.
The Time’s vice president hAD DefenDiD their article over the controversy however by saying that their claims were sLANDerous AND that The Times is protectiD by the first AmenDment As weLL.
Last but not Least,
Sometimes my wonder is if Donald Trump goes out of his way to threaten lawsuits against any organizations or publishers of the press not out of a serious intent of winning these suits, but to just give himself more space in the defense of himself in these allegations.

Our Feuding Founding Fathers
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/17/opinion/our-feuding-founding-fathers.html?ref=opinion
This piece discusses the polarization of US politics throughout history. I thought it was extremely effective in communicating its message while being informative. It did a great job at pointing to how interpretation Constitution was largely debated then and now.
NY Times: Repeal Marijuana Prohibition (editorial)
http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/07/27/opinion/sunday/high-time-marijuana-legalization.html?_r=0
The Times recently published an editorial calling for Congress to repeal the ban on marijuana in the United States. In this editorial piece, the board did an excellent job of backing up the claim that it would be beneficial to society by supporting their stance with numbers of incarceration rates, and potential benefits of repealing the ban. In addition, they invited readers to write in with their opinions on the issue, promising prompt response. Overall, it was an effective piece, though it could have been backed up with more statistics and figures on legalizing marijuana, such as the potential financial benefit that the government could gain from legalization.

Op-Ed Assignment: NY Times: Donald Trump, the Worst of America
The audience is primed for the op-ed with the Presidential campaign of Donald Trump. The author of the article, Charles M. Blow, makes it very clear just by the title of the article that Donald Trump is the worst thing to ever happen in America. Through the sequence of events from running for President to groping whichever women he desires, the author makes his opinion present with his comments and adjectives. The author’s objective is clear and concise in that he wants to denounce Trump for everything that revolved around him in the news. Charles tells of how Donald Trump came about and his presence in America as well as Trump’s rise through the Republican party. Charles writes about the Republican Party with great hatred and denounces all credibility of the Republican party to be taken seriously.
Quotes:
“He looks pathetic.
He is a ball of contradictions that together form a bully, a man who has built a menacing wall around the hollow of his self. He is brash to mask his fragility.”
“He has dispensed with all semblances of wanting to appear presidential and embraced what seems to be most natural to him: acting like a pig.”
