When I think of my first semester in college I think of the 11 floor library in Baruch . I came from a private school that had a library the size of a classroom and I thought it was very unfortunate . I never knew exactly what the use of a library was until I came into Baruch and truthfully it opened my eyes up to a whole new world. I had to do all my work right when I got home and in high school there was no where to do work besides the cafeteria, where there would be so much distractions . I saw what a library was outside of my school but I never knew a college library would work to my advantage like it is now.

I think Library is a place where you can take your mind off everything around you ,if its home problems , school problems , or even if it’s the outside world . It brings you to your own secluded place where no one can bother you. When I first did my first research paper in the library , I had no distractions , no people coming up to me , no mother bothering me , it was just my homework n I and I actually liked that for a change . When I’m home I get distracted more then anyone I know , it can take me almost 2 hours to just finish 1 easy paper unlike the library where it can take me around 1 hour. Unfortunately the library is the last place you want to spend because your stuck doing work all night ; But I don’t look it in that way , because you have to do work either way and if you do it in the library you know you’ll have no distractions at all.

When I came into Baruch I didn’t think that the work would be as hard as it is now but I was wrong. They say as you stay in college you get used too all the hard work and adjust to it easily, but I think its going to take me another semester or two to do so. I also love how Baruch unlike some schools let you take a course over 2 times which lets you get a better mark if your failing it the first time around and I think that will work for my advantage in the future. As I’m writing this I’m sitting in the library reflecting on all the hardships I had through this semester and how Sandy took a toll on not only me but the whole Baruch community. I think that without this Baruch library I wouldn’t be where I am today and happy to be the comfortable freshman In Baruch college.
