Blog Post #4

There’s nothing about the workshop that really “affected” me. I have volunteered on multiple occasions in the past, so I’m aware that some do it strictly to make themselves feel better (of course selfishness shouldn’t be involved).  I highly doubt anyone’s stance on volunteering faced a drastic change during the presentation—it was just too long and drawn out.

And I apologize if this is harsh, I mean no disrespect to the presenter, I’m certain he’s a good guy. It’s just those that those that want to volunteer will, and not many people I know actually want to visit a nursing home, paint, clean a park, or interact with kids. Unless the volunteering is mandated, fewer people will participate. Basically people require these types of deals to be a two-way street, I do X for you and you’ll do Y for me.
