I Am The Music

My name is William Sacerio. The playlist that I’ve thrown together for this post speaks volumes about who I am. I’m definitely a lover of post-rock and alternative music, but I also enjoy experimental and minimalist qualities in my music. Overall, you could consider my musical tastes to be somewhat eclectic. Pieces like Sigur Rós’ “Untitled 3,” also known as “Samskeyti” which is Icelandic for “attachment,”and Philip Glass’ “Mad Rush” show my love for music that evolves over time, giving me time to relax and curl up with a good book. More melancholic songs like Patrick Watson’s “Slip Into Your Skin” and Still Parade’s “Actors” are great for early morning walks, an activity I’ve recently grown fond of. A morning walk not only helps you wake up but gives you time to dive into your own mind and explore the depths of your existence. I’m also a fan of more cinematic and inspirational pieces, “Grow Till Tall” by Jónsi and “Wake Up” by the immensely popular indie rock band The Arcade Fire. You can walk down the street listening to either one and forget that you’re not an adventurer destined to save the universe from the forces of darkness. That can help build an image of who I am, someone who turns on his music, closes his eyes, and escapes into his mind, a world that I find can only be described by a quote from Virginia Woolf’s Moments of Being, “We are the words; we are the music; we are the thing itself.”
