Jacky Yung

With about fifteen minutes until the analog clock strikes 12:00 AM, I finally sit in front my MacBook and start to fabricate the story of my life. Just kidding.

So far, I’m not too sure if anything yet. I’m leaning towards accounting as a major, or maybe even finance depending on how I like my classes. As a person, i like to think that i’m genuine and honest; yet often times i lose my character in intense situations. What i do know is: I like biking; that’s not the purpose of this post though. With about nine minutes left, my mission is to introduce some of the music i listen to on the 7 and 6 train while commuting, to you.

To me, each song represents a capsule that capture a specific era in time. Each song has its own memory encased inside and each time i press play, i release all the emotions and feelings within that moment. That is also why i have mostly older songs from past years and even Chinese songs. For instance, the Chinese songs represent the culture and memories I had with my dad as a child; and i still listen to those songs to this day for motivation. Although those songs may now include feelings and memories of whatever i’m doing at that moment; i still retain and remember the memories from childhood.

Unfortunately for the sake of finishing the assignment, I need to finish my post. However each song really does represent a specific memory. For example, excuse the vulgarity but, “N***** in Paris” was also a really motivational song during high school for me. Almost every Friday during a school week, my friends and I would go to the Recreational center, a public gym which was free for teenagers, and stayed late there for “Teen Night.” There we did tons of exercise like basketball, 4 wall handball, running on the treadmill, and simply enjoying each other’s company outside of school. The song all encouraged us to work harder, despite sweating and feeling fatigued from running around the basketball court.

It truly was an inspirational song.

My playlist.

Thanks for reading.
