“Women Bought and Sold in Nepal” by Katie Orlinsky (Article 4)

In my ENG 2100 class, we read a similar and more in-depth article by Peter Landesman about human trafficking in Mexico. This article by Katie Orlinsky shares similarities with that of Landesman’s. Female victims are abducted, drugged, and transported to foreign places. In addition, human trafficking involves border officers in both the United States-Mexico and Nepal-India borders to be bribed by ring leaders. It is apparent that human trafficking operates the same way in all locations.

Orlinsky refers to Tamang as a victim who has overcome the trafficking business. Tamang filed charges against her trafficker and won the case. This gives hope for victims who are scared to ask for help. With more stories about human trafficking, one can be more knowledgeable about the issue and be more aware of possible occurrences.
