Blog Post #3 – Kenya Richardson

College was not at all what I expected. I guess I wasn’t prepared enough for it. I mean, of course I knew it would be a lot harder than high school, but I don’t think I ever really mentally prepared myself. The first … Continue reading

T-Minus 12 hours. I wake up and get ready for school bringing nothing with me but a pen and a sheet of paper. T-Minus 10 hours. First class of the day. Less than half of the students are present; they … Continue reading

The first picture I have chosen is of a family tree. My family is something that matters more to me than anything in this world, and I would not trade them in for anything. Included in this category are my friends, for me my friends are my family. Although I am a friendly person, and in turn have a decent amount of friends, there are very few friends whom I’d place in this category of family; but they’re more than enough for me and I love them all to death.

The second picture is a clutter of things related to music. I think music is something that speaks to everyone, and with all the different kinds of music everyone can find a certain song or even entire genre of music that represents them. Music is one of those things that is so “universal”. A person who lives in New York and a person who lives in China can have totally different lifestyles, cultures, and outlooks on life; having close to nothing in common, but both being spoken too and drawing a connection to the same song. For me that is something so amazing, and one of the things I love about music.

The third picture, a girl in a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear, makes me laugh because it shows perfectly what I look like most mornings. I’m a person who absolutely loves to shop, even when I don’t need to. In fact, I have so much clothes that I don’t even have room for it all, yet I can never seem to find the right thing to wear.

The fourth picture is a collage of hair and makeup. These are two things I truly enjoy doing, and would consider to be my hobbies. I think they’re both a sort of art form and allow you to be very creative.

The fifth and sixth pictures are of children and many Disney characters. For a very long time I have been especially good at taking care of kids and having fun with them and even now at the age of 17 I find myself relating to and having full conversations with 4 and 5 year olds. I think a part of that connection is due to me in a sense, having a sort of childlike mind. I absolutely love Disney movies and fairy tales, and things that are geared towards children. (I’ve even found myself watching a Nick Jr. show even while I wasn’t babysitting!)

The final two pictures I believe  represent me perfectly because I try and make sure to always stay positive and have a positive outlook on things that i’m involved in even of they may not be the best things in the world. Finally, I try to always work as hard as I can so I will be able to achieve all of my dreams in the future.
