Hello, my name is Richard Lam. Unfortunately, I do not know many of my fellow classmates in FRO BRB, so I’d like to show you just a bit of what makes me who I am. First off, I think the first impression that people have on me on the first day is really just another distinctive student who goes to Baruch and that, of course, is undeniable. So let’s go a foot deeper. Like a lot of people, I do love to learn, I like to make new friends, and I always try to have fun. These three qualities help me create interests in various areas. In the presentation, you will first notice the choice of music, which is a piece called “Prelude in Major C”. It is pretty much the only Classical piece of music that I know that name of because it was actually the first out of the Classical genre that I really enjoyed. But besides Classical, I like many other genres of music such as Electronic, Pop, Dance, R & B, Blues, Classic Rock, and some others. I really can’t get myself to favor any specific type of music; I just don’t like songs that are too fast or too loud or both, like Hip Hop and Rap. And I’m sure I haven’t heard of all the genres so if anyone’s got any good suggestions, feel free to tell me about them and expand my musical tastes! The second thing you might notice in the presentation is the race cars. Ever since I was a small child, I’ve loved cars and racing. It was my ultimate goal to become the fastest race car driver in the world. It was silly and all, but I did take the time to learn about cars and play racing simulators. And I especially like the Japanese and some European race cars that were introduced in the late 1990’s because of their potential and simplicity. The first car that you’ll see is the Nissan GTR R32 and the next is the BMW M3. Now, the final picture, is a picture of a couple of soldiers practicing martial arts moves and if you look closely, they are actually practicing with knives. Believe it or not, I was interested in both when I was around 12, the time I got my first computer. And since I loved to learn, I did learn to use both martial arts and knives, but not because I wanted to hurt anyone, but because I had once been mugged around that age. So initially, it was to protect myself and my family, but it grew into more of an interest as I learned more and more. Nothing to worry about though, it’s not like I’m going to be flipping around like a ninja; this interest is like one of those weird or unique interests that people have. But now that you guys know a little bit about me, I hope that I’ll be able to make some new friends.
