Mike Garcia’s Slideshow thing

So for my eight photos, I honestly picked most of my pictures from Facebook because it was just so much easier that way. I chose the popcorn one because I love to just waste my money on fun stuff and food is just awesome. A lot of my friends call me pirate because of the movie Dodgeball, so I embraced that and I went as a pirate for Halloween. I chose the scenic sunset picture and the camera lens because I love cinematography and photography and think that they’re just awesome. I love video games and probably play more than the average person should, but I love the challenge, hence me playing on hyper difficulty, and Kingdom Hearts is probably one of the greatest games ever made. Dirtyheads are one of my favorite bands because they play very chill but awesome music, and lastly, who doesn’t love a spongebob reference. The song i posted was pop culture live mashup by Madeon which is one of my favorite songs and the dancing skeleton looked cool and went with the music. 😀

Where the Wind Blows

Life is hard, ain’t it?

Going to school, back and forth

It gets tiring.

I get used to it

Been doing this for far too long

But it ain’t all bad.

Chilling with friends

Getting an education,

But is this it?

Sure it ain’t bad

But there has to be more, right?

To this thing we call life.

But maybe that’s why I’m here,

To find this answer

We all seem to search for.

Let’s just see where the wind takes me from here.

Colleen’s Monologue (Post #2)

Have to say, my life is a real snore. It certainly wouldn’t make an exciting movie. Sorry, it probably won’t be anymore thrilling as an essay, but try to keep your eyes open, alright? Why is my life so yawn-inducing? Well, I’m not entirely sure, to be quite honest, but I can think of one possible reason. That reason, ironically, might be the most “interesting” aspect of my life (which really isn’t saying much).

It’s not something I’m proud to admit, but I’m pretty sure it’s as clear as day to everybody at this point. Plus I’ve really got nothing else to talk about. So here goes. In case you somehow haven’t noticed, I’m not exactly the most talkative person around.

“No shit,” I’m sure everybody just thought collectively.

Thing is, that isn’t because of nerves from being in a new school or anything like that. I’ve been that way for as long as I can remember. That’s alright, it’s normal to be a little quiet, right? Well, let’s just say I’m a pretty extreme case. For most of my years in school, I’ve always been sort of…a loner, I guess? Yeah, sounds pretty pathetic, putting it that way, but oh well, that’s the truth of it.

Well, I wasn’t always a “loner”, per se. Back in elementary school, I’d hang out with at least one person. That person changed every year since my classmates were different each year, but it was always only one person and no more. Don’t think that happened deliberately; that’s just how things turned out, I guess.

It wasn’t until middle school that I really turned into a “loner”. Ay caramba! Did something incredibly tragic happen that changed me forever? Nope, sorry, nothing that exciting. In fact, nothing happened at all. For some reason, I just didn’t make any friends. This continued even through high school. From the looks of it, nothing’s really changing in college.

Sure, I’ve always had acquaintances to casually converse with. I’m not completely mute. But an actual, close friend that I talk with, even outside of school? Haven’t had one of those in a long time.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea why I turned into such a “loner”. I’ve never really been bullied, even though you might expect somebody like me to be a prime target for such. In fact, most of the kids in my high school were pretty nice. Not a victim of child abuse either, in case you were wondering. So it’s got nothing to do with emotional trauma. Contrary to popular stereotypes, I assure you I’m also not a misanthrope with plans to shoot up the school, so you can all relax now.

According to my mother, I’ve been the way I am…since the day I was born, pretty much. Yep, I wasn’t very sociable, even back when I was still crapping in my pants. Apparently, I would bawl whenever a stranger just wanted to say hi to me. Pretty sure it’s got nothing to do with genes or family influence, either. I mean, you should see my brother. The guy’s a complete polar opposite of me; he’s one of them frat boy types that always hits the gym and goes clubbing every week. My parents are also relatively “normal”. Guess I’m just an odd case.

I don’t particularly hate socialization. Nor do I love it, for that matter. But I do hate having too much attention on me (so as you can imagine, my Speech Communication class is a real nightmare for me). I also have issues with initiating conversations, meaning I’ll never start a conversation unless I have something very specific to ask. Just can’t start a conversation for the sake of conversation, I guess. I don’t join other peoples’ conversations, either, unless I’m explicitly asked for input (even then, I’m not very opinionated, so I usually don’t answer with anymore than a shrug). Maybe that’s why I don’t make a whole lot of friends; a lot of people seem to assume I don’t want anybody to bother me, when the truth is, I just don’t know what to say to anybody. Or I just smell real bad, who knows.

Point being, life isn’t exactly exciting for somebody like me, which is why I have such few “interesting” experiences to write about. Honestly, though, I’m fine with my life. While I don’t hate people, being alone seldom bothers me. My life’s pretty nice to live, it’s just…painfully boring to write about. There’s also the fact that American society seems to stigmatize asociality, so it’s hard not to feel a lil’ embarrassed about myself sometimes. Pretty sure I’m gonna regret writing about this later, but…ah, who cares, I just wanna pass this class, for Christ’s sake.

Sorry for writing a whole novel, but you have my congratulations if you made it this far. Think that’s all I gotta say…oh wait, that’s right, I gotta have a picture of me or something. Well, here you go.

whoa it's colleen

Hello Everyone,

For the FRO assignment I did the slideshow. The first picture is of me when I was small. The second picture is something I am passionate about, photography. The third picture is of Bryant Park which is one of my favorite parks in the city. During the summer there were many nights that the city played old movies at this park and it was an amazing time. Another thing I did a lot was hangout at the beach and pool. The fourth picture is two of my closest freinds at the Jones Beach Pool. Now on to things I like and dislike. I’m terrified of big dogs shown in the fifth picture. As weird as it sounds, I love buildings, especially ones that have unique designs as seen the sixth picture. The seventh picture is of one of my most favorite types of cake, Strawberry Shortcake. The last picture is of my favorite TV show, How I Met Your Mother.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

It was tough narrowing this down to just eight photos. I threw in a baby pic to start 🙂 LOOK AT THOSE CHEEKS! Next, I have a picture of me and my boys, because friendship is important to me and I miss those guys, especially those who go away to school. After that I have a picture of a beach. I love going to the beach in the summer, and that is the nicest beach I’ve been to in Greece. I love the picture with the sunset over the mountains in Greece. The beautiful serenity depicted in it relates to me because I’m always very calm and laid-back. The picture of me staring off into the distance is in there because I just like thinking to myself and often get lost in my own thoughts. I have a picture taken from a plane because I love traveling to new places and experiencing different ways of life. The next picture is one taken from the top of a mountain looking down on the tiny village I’m from in Greece. That place is my second home and I can’t even describe how much it means to me; I love going back every summer. Finally, I have a picture from the back of a sailboat looking back at the island. This depicts the point of my life that I’m at right now – looking back at the old and ready to start the new.

A picture is worth a thousand words! In this slideshow you will see picture of my family, friends, hobbies, happy moments, and sad moments. In these images you will be able to relive some of the moments in my life. Pictures of my friends and family will appear often because they are a huge part of my life. I decided to add in some sad or bad memories because people learn from their mistakes. I believe these photos show the fun, caring, funny, and serious aspect of my life. The reason why I pick the song “Summer” by Calvin Harris is because the fast tempo is a lot like my personality! Enjoy

Yoser Asitimbay-FRO Blog Post#1

Hello everyone! This is Yoser and I’ve decided to do a playlist as a way to show a small window of myself. It was a bit difficult to decide what I wanted to put in my playlist as I listened to whatever matched my mood at the time. So, I’ve decided to put songs that mostly match my mood most of the time. I usually try to keep quiet, but these songs remind me I have a bunch of energy and that I want to let loose every now and then. I keep silent though, as it would just annoy others pretty quickly. I switch from being relaxed to energetic throughout the day and I try to maintain a balance between the two. I try and remain calm and relaxed throughout the day, allowing me to think clearly and get by in life. Although it requires a lot of patience, I can thank my family for the practice I’ve gotten for it. They can be annoying sometimes, but I guess they aren’t that bad, considering it could have been worse. What I want to do once I graduate college is to get a job as soon as possible. I’ve heard the stories of massive student debt and I get paranoid about what my future may hold. I sometimes wonder if college is even worth the debt. But I might as well stick with it, considering I’ve already paid for my classes. I hope to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and even take the CPA exam early on, hopefully. I’ve rambled on for too long now,so here is my playlist!

Judy’s Playlist

Hello Everyone,

My name is Judy Seo and for the first Freshman Seminar blog post I chose to do a playlist. Now, this playlist consists of 10 songs that not only represent me, but also can represent anyone. It was really hard to pick out 10 songs, but I managed to do it. Most of these songs are well known and one, or two, are not commonly heard. I don’t really listen to one genre. I listen to hip-hop, R&B, alternative, electronic dance music, and more. This playlist shows my diverse taste in music and it also displays my personality. The titles themselves might be self-explanatory, but the beat of the music also is quite catchy. One might think that this playlist is all about me, but this playlist also tells the story of my friends and how certain life experiences helped, or hurt, them. Since music is such a great presence in my life I felt an obligation to create a playlist.

Hope everyone enjoys my playlist!

John Paul Cattaro’s Slidely by Slidely Slideshow

I chose the photos in my slideshow because I feel each of them represent a part of me. I have pictures of my favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees, as well as player, Alex Rodriguez, because baseball is a big part of my life. Even though many people hate A-rod because of what he did, he will still always be my favorite player. I have been playing since I was very little and will be continuing my career at Baruch. I also chose a picture of A$AP Ferg because he is my favorite rapper and I am always listening to his music. The backgroud music for my slideshow is also A$AP Ferg. The picture of me playing baseball also just shows how I love baseball and hopefully will never stop playing. When the new yankee stadium was built in 2009, my dad worked on it and he took me to work sometimes to see it, so I have a picture of the finished stadium. Lastly, I chose a picture of my dog CJ who is currently 9 years old. She has been with me in a good part of my life and she is a great dog.

Wei’s Image Slideshow

Hey guys,

Here’s the link to the slideshow. Like the majority of us, I chose an 8-image slideshow to depict who I am and what I like. First up, I have an image of the car I drive all around NY, a modest but reliable Honda CRV. I’ve been driving since I was 15, and I consider it as one of my favorite hobbies. The next picture shows the Xbox One that I bought over the summer. I do enjoy gaming, and most of the time I enjoy playing them with my friends. Next up is a picture taken at Central Park, and it is my favorite picture of all the pictures that I have ever taken, simply because it’s the most picturesque photo I am sure I will ever take. The following picture might have some roll their eyes, but I can’t help but show my love for Apple. This Apple Store in 5th Ave. is my favorite store. If only I had more money to buy their products… When it came to a picture of food, it was really hard to choose. Eventually I chose a picture of sushi, as it is one of my favorite foods. I had to follow that up with a really tasty and lengthy sandwich that I had. Next, it’s a selfie I took with my family. I graduated! In this very moment, I was looking forward to college. Oh, how naive I was. Finally, I found it appropriate to end the slideshow with a picture of none other than Eminem, my favorite artist. I went to his concert last month, and it was one of the most thrilling experiences I’ve ever had.
