My first semester at Baruch College

I really liked my first semester at Baruch. I made a few friends and got to know a lot of great people. I think everyone at Baruch is so nice and outgoing. I like all my professors as well, except one. I regret not dropping the class…… Because of that class my gpa is already ruined………………………

My friend and I went around different departments to learn about our majors, requirements, and the classes they offer. All the staff members were really friendly and helpful so it was easy for me to declare my major and even persuade my friend into my major. One thing I would complain about is how they said we’re not allowed to drop classes at the beginning of the semester.  If I knew we can, I would have dropped this class I have on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30.

I can’t believe we’re already near the end of first semester. High school went by so fast, but college seems even faster. I really like college and want it to last long. Well I got grad school to worry about too so I guess that won’t be a problem. Although, grad school doesn’t sound like fun..

My favorite class I would say was FRO. It didn’t feel like a class at all. I was just like a hang out. I heard the other fro classes that have a professor are really boring. I’m so glad we don’t have a professor in our fro, and that Allison is our peer mentor.

Freyia Kang: monologue

So far, I really like it here at Baruch. Not as much as the first month though, because they don’t give out free food anymore. I have so much more time and freedom for myself than I did during high school. Because I was in an agriculture program at John Bowne High School, I had to have double period of agriculture each year, which made my schdeule so long.. Except the freshman year when my schedule was periods 3~10, which is a normal schdedule, I had periods 1~10 for the rest of my years, even senior year!! Therefore, I love my college schedule, even if I have to come to school Monday to Friday.

As I said, I was in the agriculture program during high school, animal science to be more exact. There is a mini farm right at our school with miniature horses, cows, sheeps, goats, alpacas, and small animals, birds, and reptiles. Most of my classmates went to vet majors or other majors of the animal field, and I was the only one that came to baruch.

During weekends, I have a part time job. I work at asian supermarkets handing out samples of food products and advertising them. It’s pretty fun and a good part time job for college students! If any of you girls are interested, just ask me anytime 🙂

Freyia Kang

Hi, my name is Freyia Kang aka Ye Seul (my korean name). It says my all my pictures are too big to upload here so.. I’ll figure out a way to post them somehow………… Just come back to my post sometime later.

I was born in Korean in Bucheon, which is right next to Seoul. When I was 6(like 4 in american age), my family moved to Gangnam, Seoul. Like gangnam style! I have a picture of me when I was 7 months old. Maybe I was trying to smile at the camera? The picture with the bunch of kids is when I went on a trip in preschool. They made all of us wear yellow uniforms. The picture of the tree is a cedar tree, a tree I am extremely allergic to. I seem to be fine with the actual tree, but not products made from the tree or the tree pollen during spring. My allergies are really bad and my eyes get really itchy and swollen during April. Don’t ask me if I cried if you see me during my allergy season!! The picture of me and the horse is when I used to work at the queens botanical garden during senior year. The picture of the birds show my bird, Yundu, meaning light green in korean. He is a green cheek conure and about 6 months old now. And hes not dead, he liked to sleep on his back (not anymore for some reason). The picture of the boy with the bird is when I brought my bird to my old afterschool. I sometimes would bring him and let kids play with him. I really love animals. In fact I used to major in animal science in high school. The pictures of the rats are my research rats from high school. I did a research on whether environments affect the learning abilities of rats. Rats are so smart and cute:) If you want to hear more about my project or anythjng else, feel free to ask me.
