My first semester in college was not what I expected. I knew that college involved a lot of hard work and dedication, but aside from the hard work, I wanted a “real college experience”, like they show in movies. Since I’m not dorming, I instantly became unmotivated. I wanted to go away for college but my parents wouldn’t let me. an ideal college experience for me does NOT involve waking up two hours before my class begins or an hour train-ride and the 15 block walk from my house to the train everyday twice a day. Baruch wasn’t my first choice either so that just made matters worse. The classes aren’t as difficult as I thought it would be though, but it does require a lot of effort and hard work. I spend a lot of late nights studying and doing papers and homework the night before its due. Balancing out my personal life and school life became difficult, but often id have to pass on going out and take responsibilities. Being here, I did meet some great people who made coming little more worth while. as time goes by, I’m becoming more accustomed to the college life and its not as much as a drag as it was the first few weeks. Now I have more of a positive outlook on life and I am open to try new things and seek more opportunities.
