Doing this assignment, made me have to think about certain things that make me, me. These 10 pictures are just general pictures that I feel relate to me. I’m Christian, so God is very important to me. I truly believe that God is love. The second thing most important to me, after God, is my family. I have three older brothers as shown in the picture, and live with them and my two parents. Also I have two dogs, Simba and cookie. One is a pit-bull mixed with a boxer and the other is a shiatsu. A picture of Baruch is up there too because education is very important to me. My favorite restaurant is outback steak house. Also I have a lot of love for beauty and make up and enjoy watching videos on Youtube. Also, I put up a picture of my friends and I at my senior ski trip. It was one of the greatest experiences I went through.

Jenise Colon’s Slidely by Slidely Slideshow

This slideshow represents me, because its the people I love and the things that make up who I am. I chose each picture because they do exactly that. I chose the music because that song is a song I grew up listening to (and it was the first one I could think of) but I hope from this you have a little insight of who I am.

Me in 10 photos.

It’s impossible for anyone to describe themselves with ten pictures.  However, I tried my best.  In the first picture, I’m standing next to a horse, I really like animals of all kinds so I figured it was an appropriate photo to choose.  In the second picture, I’m standing on a fallen tree in a redwood forest in New Zealand.  I drove around NZ and lived in a van for a month with my boyfriend, it was pretty sick.  In the third photo I posted some food.  I absolutely love to cook even though this picture consists of some salad and store bought sushi, it looked good though, so that’s why I chose it.  In the fourth photo, I’m outdoors again.  I love nature!  In the fifth photo, there are some cupcakes I made.  I love baking and make a mean gluten free cookie.  The sixth photo is a wild NZ kea (I took a lot of photos there…).  I really enjoy photography, especially wildlife photography.  The seventh photo is me in London.  My dad is from England so I go there a lot.  The 8th and 9th photo consist of me in Japan.  I lived there for 2 months and learned a little bit of Japanese.  I love the language, and I think its very under appreciated despite its beauty.  The 10th picture is some tropical plant I took a photo of.  Again, I love nature.

Pictures of Who I Am

a.aviles1 on Sep 15th 2014

David Lynch

Choosing eight images to describe myself proved to be more difficult than I originally figured it would be. However the pictures that made it into this slideshow sum up a big part of who I think I am. The old man, David Lynch, is my favorite film director and I simply love all his work. His films are unique and have surrealists themes which are quite intriguing. Embarrassingly enough, this past summer I spend quite some time watching his work or other films. Other days though, I visited the beach. When I tell people the beach is one of my favorite places, they tend to be surprised because I do not come across as having the “beachy vibe.” This summer I also made sure to stuff my face in all the food I could get my hands on at Smorgasburg. This photo of the ramen burger would one of those items. Although not as tasty as I anticipated, it was still a treat. You cannot live without food and there are no words to describe my love affair with it. I do think I can cook up something better than that burger though. Besides the aforementioned things I love, design and art are another passion of mine. In high school, I was able to take classes in product design and basic industrial design which helped me in creating my own work. One of the most revered designers of all time, Massimo Vignelli, created everything from the dinnerware in the picture to the subway map we all use today and he is a great inspiration. In addition to his work, at my favorite museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, there are a lot of pieces that have influenced me. One of the classes I took last year had me producing pieces just for fun and I continue making things that not only look interesting, but also can be used in my daily life. Another photo in this slideshow is the runway one from a Balenciaga collection and it is there because I have been interested in fashion since a very young age. Everything about it is a great way for someone to express themselves and you can really tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear for example. The fashion industry is one I have thought about exploring, either the business or creative side, and it’s an option I am open to. Lastly, I included a picture of NYC because I have lived here my entire life and once upon a time I thought I would never leave this place but I am starting to think that these four years to come may be my last. As much as I adore this city, it can wear down a person.

Fro Picture Project

Untitled

For my picture presentation, I have chosen to include pictures that not just spoke to me but have been a part of my life in one way or another. The first picture that I included is a cup of coffee, particularly a Starbucks cup of coffee. The reason that I have included this picture is not just because I am a fan of their coffee in general, but for the fact that Starbucks has always been a familiar place no matter where I am. No matter how far away from home I know I can expect a familiar grande macchiato and free wifi! This relates to another picture that I have posted about travel and road trips, I come from a family of weekend adventurers, ever since I was a little girl my family left behind the city and travelled as far as we could in a weekend. The furthest we ever made it was Ontario all in one three day weekend. This also translates to more vacations, my summers have always been filled to the brim with road trips not just with my family but also friends. Traveling has always been close to my heart wether it be hiking up Mount Meron in Israel to getting questioned at the border of Nicaragua and Costa Rica when our tour bus ran out of gas,one things for sure its never boring. The following picture is of horse back riding, I have been riding western for almost 10 years, and I definitely recommend it. Horses have an amazing innate intelligence and love that has kept me coming back for more. The next set of pictures are of collections of antiques, artifacts, books and art.I come from a family of collectors, my family has been collecting art, antiques, artifacts and books for the last century. My family has been steadily acquiring new pieces to the collections, currently our home library has more than 2000 books, my mother boasts that she has read each one, I could honestly say that I have barely made a dent. As you can imagine my mother never really let me get away with being bored, she always said “read a book”. As a kid this was immensely annoying, but through time I have come to greatly appreciate books.

My Music!

c.livoti on Sep 15th 2014

I like to listen to all different types of music and, am open to listening to anything. Although I like to listen to many different genres and songs, here are 10 of my favorite. I love The Beatles and 3 of my favorite songs by them are “Penny Lane”, “All you need is Love,” and “Yesterday.” These three songs each hold a meaning to me while they are also great songs with catchy beats and lyrics. I also like Bruno Mars and 2 of my favorite songs by him are “Treasure,” and “Just the Way You Are.” o love these 2 songs because they are both catchy while also holding meaning about love. “Mr. Brightside,” and “Human” by The Killers are also great songs. Both these songs are catchy and both have meanings about life, love, and relationships. My last 3 favorite songs are “Secrets” by Onerepublic, “Hotel California” by The Eagles, and “Demons” by Imagine Dragons. These 3 songs are about discovering your inner self and they are also very catchy songs.

Personality Playlist

c.telford on Sep 15th 2014

Playlist:

1. Mystery of Inequity – Lauren Hill

2. I Know I Can – NAS

3. Hard Knock Life – Jay-Z

4. Just wait it – Migos

5. Tuesday – iLoveMakonnen ft. Drake

6. About the Money – T.I. ft Young Thug

7. Oceans – Jay-Z ft Frank Ocean

8. Tennis Court – Lorde

9. Royals – Lorde

10. Comfort Inn Ending – Jhene Aiko

Lauren Hill’s Mystery of Inequity is a song that once I first heard it, it stuck with me. What is so significant is the informative message within the song. Basically Hill is telling the listener to be truthful with oneself because no one is truly going to be honest with you. This song speaks to who I am because it acknowledges the corruption within this generation and I also personally believe this generation is corrupted. NAS’ I Know I Can is a song i first heard when I was about 10 years old, ever since then it has been every playlist I ever created. This song is motivation, when I am down and unsure of myself, I listen to this song and remember that anything is possible, with hard work of course. Hard Knock Life is evidence that no matter the circumstances I can still prevail and anything is possible. Migos’ Just Wait on It is a song that exudes the message to let actions speak, words are only worth so much. If you want to know what the future holds, “…just wait on it”. The general message of Tuesday is, regardless of what day of the week it is, you can still have fun. About the money is a song that stresses the significance of success; Money is symbolic of success, “if it ain’t about the money” why are we conversing? Life is not all about money but if you are not a regular figure in my life do not excessively contact me unless we are discussing a way to advance ourselves.

My life in photographs

t.stirton on Sep 15th 2014

Racing = one of my passions

I always find it hard for me to describe myself because there are so many different things that I enjoy. In these photos I made sure to include the things that mean the most to me and the things that I make up who I am. The first two photos mean a lot to me because they represent the thing that I enjoy the most. Most kids my age are fans of baseball and football. However I’m a little different. I am a huge fan of NASCAR racing. While most people find that to be weird, I find it to be pretty cool and it is something that I passionately follow. I am a huge fan of Danica Patrick. I’ve met her a few times and I always enjoy going to the races. My family and I go to about 5 races a year and I always enjoy myself. The next photo is of something that most of us enjoy. Starbucks. Most people simply go to Starbucks for a quick drink but I always enjoy going there with friends. It’s a great place to hang out and I’ve become close with a few my friends just by going to Starbucks. The next picture is a picture of my favorite band Paramore. I have been a fan ever since 2005 and they mean the world to me. I remember being in the front row of their concert at Madison Square Garden last year. Their music means a lot to me and it has helped me through a lot of tough times. A blog post about me wouldn’t be complete without a picture of New York City. I absolutely love this place so much. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. I have made so many great memories in these concrete canyons that I know I’ll never forget. Finally, the last three photos mean a lot to me because they represent the biggest part of my life. In high school, I was part of my school’s band. My high school doesn’t have a small band program that just plays once in a while. My high school happens to have a band program that has won national competitions and is one of the most well known bands in New York State. We swept a national competition by winning 5 golds in Williamsburg last year and two years ago we won in Disney in Florida. I mostly play the alto saxophone and I really enjoy it. But, my favorite picture is the one with a group of people in it. Those people happen to be my section. I was section leader in my school which meant that I had to make sure that my section was working hard and I would always help out if they ever needed anything. The people in that photograph are my best friends. A lot of them are underclassmen who are still in high school. I miss them everyday and they truly mean the world to me.
