My first three months at Baruch have been incredible. I have accomplished much of what I set out to do prior to entering Baruch, met some amazing people, and create lasting memories. I owe it to the Investment Management Group for my unbelievable time at Baruch thus far. This is a picture of just a few members, during a night out together. I can not even begin to explain what the group has done for me. They have trained me, developed me, and put me in contact with some very influential people in the business. But, there is much more to it than just the professional aspect. I have made many great friends with those in the group. They are such smart and hardworking people, and constantly push and better one another. The guys at IMG are were always there for me every step of the way. There isn’t a single thing that I can’t talk to them about. We’ve become a family; we constantly joke around and mess with each other. But, they are always there when I need them most. I can’t even begin to imagine how different my experience would be had I not been a part of the group. I’m so grateful for them, and will never be able to repay them for what they have done for me.

Monologue

My First Trade

A lot of people have different big “firsts” in their lives: first kiss, first relationship, first time driving. My biggest “first” was my first trade. It was in some pharmaceutical company; it is also the crappiest trade I’ve ever made. I was so anxious to put on my first trade, that I bought the first stock I saw whose ticker scrolled across the bottom of CNBC. I logged onto my trading platform, typed in the symbol, and confidently pressed the ”buy” button, not even knowing how many shares I just bought. I spent half, yes half, of my one thousand dollar account to buy what could appropriately be described as “dog shit”. But I didn’t care. I was overwhelmed with joy; my very first trade. What’s next? After placing the trade, I just sat at my desk, and started daydreaming of being the teen sensation that turned a thousand dollars into 2.7 million (the exactness of the number makes my dream feel real). I was on cloud nine, until the next day, crashed back down to reality. As it turns out, the stock I bought filed for bankruptcy the very next day. The stock tanked. All that ran through my mind was, “Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit”. When I finally gained my composure, I sold shares; three hundred dollars, gone.

Subject Line: Question regarding MTH 2003 homework

Hello Professor Jane Doe,

I had some difficulty with question 10 on page 103 of the textbook. Specifically, I am unsure of which formula to use in this situation. How am I able to determine what the appropriate formula is? Thank you!

Best,

These are all photos that were taken during my senior year. I feel they accurately describe who I am. The first photo is my most favorite. It is with my best friends (we’ve been the same group of best friends since elementary school) at graduation. A few month before we graduated, we said we wanted to take a picture and try to replicate it 30 years from now. These guys are practically my brothers (the guy in the blue button down is my actual brother); we’ve been through it all together. The second photo is of the same group of us, though some are missing, on a camping trip in upstate New York. We all shared a huge tent, which was fun but the best idea. One of my friends has a really loud snore. The third photo was taken on my birthday and perfectly describes me. I am a HUGE Knicks fan, and have been since a little kid. It turned out that on my birthday, the Knicks were have an autograph signing to launch their new jerseys. It was incredible! Carmelo Anthony wished me a happy birthday(which my friend managed to record)! In the fourth photo, it’s my close friends from the Academy of Finance and I at prom. I was an amazing night, and I was most happy that I was able to wear suspenders :). The fifth photo shows my friends from the Academy of Finance and I when we volunteered at an international bike race. The race ran from the city, up Bear mountain, and ended at this park in my town of Fort Lee, NJ. I was able to meet a lot of people from all different parts of the world. In the sixth photo, it’s my best friend Alex (who goes to Baruch with me) and I with our baby simulation project. This devil child left us sleep deprived. In the seventh photo, my Academy of Finance class and I posed for a photo after a dinner. We appropriately nicknamed ourselves “The Academy of Family” (yes, I know, it’s really corny). We are an unbelievably close group. I’ve had a lot of great memories with them. Last, but certainly not least, is a photo of my family and I at graduation. It was a very emotional day. It felt surreal. I remember, when the principle was giving his speech, images of my entire school career from kindergarten to senior years rushed through my head. The feeling I had was indescribable.
