This meme of a man telling a lady to calm herself and the lady profusely doing the opposite is exactly how I feel my college experience has been so far, especially towards the end. All of the assignments due around the same time, along with tests over lapping has been more than an overwhelming experience especially for a person like myself who only procrastinates. In this meme, I am the man telling college to take it easy, and college is the beautiful woman basically telling me to suck it.

Andre Massiah – All About Me

Greetings my fellow freshmen,

My name is Andre Massiah; or at least that’s what it says on my birth certificate. I am a Leo and I am 18. Those of you that already know me can see that I’m a very laid-back, simple, down to earth kind of guy. I have respect and a strong liking for all sports, however basketball is my absolute favorite. I shot my first basketball when I was 2, and ever since then it’s been a tremendous passion of mine. Throughout my life I’ve played in multiple basketball leagues, and on multiple teams. I played for my high school varsity team in both my junior and senior year. I was fortunate enough to bring home a championship, as well as a finals MVP award, in my church’s intramural league. I lead my team the whole season in both assists and points and became well respected within the community for my talents. My favorite basketball team is the Golden State warriors, and my favorite player is #30, Stephen Curry.

Another great passion of mine is music. I’ve been listening to music since I got my first laptop in the 7th grade. I didn’t have an iTunes at the time, so I always found myself on YouTube listening to my favorite tracks over and over again. My parents finally got me an iPod a year or two after and in no time I had over 200 songs. My library now consists of over 1000 songs varying from many genres except for punk, hardcore, or metal rock. My favorite genre is hip-hop/R&B and my two favorite rappers are J. Cole and Tyga.

For the past two years of my life, I’ve been working a part time job as an usher at the Kupferburg Center of the Arts on the Queens College Campus. This job allowed me to generate a better understanding for many cultures. Most of the performances that take place in this theatre are in a languages other than English entirely, therefore I’m surrounded by a different culture each night. The auditorium seats over 2000 people, so some shows get very hectic, however for the most part it is a wonderful job.

Ever since the eighth grade, I’ve indulged myself in video games. I bought myself an Xbox 360 at the end of my eight grade year, and ever since then I’ve been extremely fond of my 360. I played a lot of first shooters such as Call of Duty, and Battlefield; as well as sports games such as madden, and 2k. Recently though, I’ve stopped playing these games and watch a lot of Netflix on my Xbox instead.

Lastly a very important aspect of my life, is college. For most of my senior year, the college process was stressful; from taking the SAT’s in October, to applying by December, to FASFA in January, then finalizations after March. However I was able to successfully overcome the adversity I faced, and be in class with all of you today.  My graduation as well as my acceptance into college meant a lot to my family as well as myself. This milestone in my life all though small, plays a very big factor in who I am, as well as where my values lie.
