Greetings,
My name is Vincent, but most of you probably already know that, and I ride fixed gear bicycles. A Fixed gear bicycle is by definition, is a bicycle that has a drivetrain with no freewheel mechanism. In other words its a single-gear bicycle that has no freewheel, so that its wheels cannot move unless power is applied to the pedals. Riding bicycles has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I began riding bikes with my Dad though Central Park when I was about 8 years old. Last year, I joined the fixed gear community after purchasing my first fixed gear bike for my 16th birthday. Immediately, cycling became apart of my daily life; riding to and from school as a means of transportation, riding for exercise, and riding just for the fun of it. I don’t know what it is but riding through the streets of New York City emits a certain formidable sensation, whether it be riding down 5th Avenue racing a Taxi, weaving through traffic during rush hour, and or riding with no brakes. In short, riding bikes has become a part of me, and if you know me personally, you can attest to that.
