1. Dirty Water- Lecrae
“Now we extreme, buying fancy things like gold chains. Just pretty shackles, we still enslaved. Put em round your neck, cuz we still hangin.” This song contains extremely thought provoking and intriguing verses. This represents my appreciation for different perspectives. I love hearing the opinions/thoughts of others that I would otherwise have been unable to form on my own.

2. Words I Never Said- Lupe Fiasco
“Jihad is not holy war, where’s that in the worship? Murdering is not Islam, and you are not observant And you are not a Muslim” This song successfully delivers my sentiments regarding our government and my stance on wars.

3. Blame It On Me- Chrisette Michelle
This love song is sung so dramatically but the verses are hilarious to me. It represents my preference for comedic songs over trite, mushy one.

4.  Super Rich Kids- Frank Ocean
I can’t relate to this song at all, but that’s what I like about it. This represents my interest in different perspectives.

5. Cry Me Out- Pixie Lott
People find her endearing lisp to be annoying, but I find it charming and unique. I believe peoples flaws are also their charms.

6. Best Friend- Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse is my favorite artist. It broke my soul when I found out that she passed away.

7. My Boo-Usher
This song epitomizes my favorite genre: R&B

8.  Gravity- John Mayer
This song reminds me of a crazy, young man I had encountered in the summer. He followed me from the bus. I ran away so he ran after me. I ran down the escalator to the train and so did he. I hid in the corner of the train car and he was running into each one looking for me but luckily didn’t spot me. I had this song on repeat while i was on the train, trying to recuperate from the traumatizing situation.

9. Ship and The Globe- Kae Sun
This song is peaceful, funky, and upbeat. People tell me I’m funky and upbeat, but not peaceful.

10. Believe Me- Lil Wayne
I was extremely livid one day and happened to hear this song. I fell in love with how succinctly Drake enunciated profane words. This engendered a very bad habit of being unable to control the vulgar language that comes out of my mouth when I’m angry.
