Deontrey’s Playlist

1) 4 Eyes – Nebu Kiniza

– This song is from an underground rapper named Nebu Kiniza. His lyrical level is better than most rappers now a days which is why I listen to him. In this song he talks about some problems he had within his family and how he overcame them and continues to succeed.

2) Black Heroes – Wale

– Wale in my opinion is a lyrical genius which is why people don’t listen to his music.  His metaphors are so complex that people don’t understand them and don’t bother to listen to him. In this song he talks about people hating on what he does and how he overlooks them by being successful. He also names a couple of black famous people that are or have been very successful and how they got there.

3) The Jig is Up – Kendrick Lamar

– Kendrick Lamar, arguably one of the best rappers alive. He basically talks about how people don’t believe he is one of the best. He justifies his success by naming things that he bought and has acquired from selling his music.

4) Fa we we  Freestyle – Wale

– Another Wale song, and in this one he is basically talking trash to all of his haters stating all of his success. This song also talks about doing something because you want to and because it makes a difference, and not because you have to.

5) Let Me Ride – Lil Snupe

– Lil Snupe is a rapper that was recently shot at a very young age, 16 I believe. Snupe talks about coming up from what he used to be. He had been in jail, on the streets, doing all types of illegal things but has made it in the music industry.

6) Return of Simba – J Cole

– J Cole, another rapper who is up there on the best rapper out list. I like this song because he talks about timing and how crucial it is to have good timing. In this case he is talking about timing of his music which is why people go crazy whenever he releases something.

7) Too long – Shizzy Six

Shizzy is another underground rapper that I really because of his lyrics and delivery. He has the best delivery I’ve heard in a while, his flow is fast but you understand what he says. In this song he talks about during his childhood he didn’t have a father figure or even a bigger brother to teach him how to be a man be he still learned on his own.

8) Cut you off – Kendrick Lamar

This song is humorous but at the same time truthful. Kendrick speaks on how friends and even family are always gossiping about each other bringing negativity. Kendrick basically tells them to get out of his ear with all the negativity.

9) It Ain’t Hard To Tell – Nas

– Nas talks about how he is the best rapper and how you show easily be able to see that. He also talks on his increasing talent in music and how it is attracting more fans.

10) Mic Check – Shizzy Six

Another song by Shizzy song, he talks about turning all of his disadvantages and difficulties into success. He is basically saying, no matter what you go through, you always turn it around.

Creating a slideshow with pictures that show my family, friends and interests was the best way I could describe a little about myself in such a brief time. I have two Shiba Inu’s one boy and one girl and their names are Rusty and Nikki. I am an only child and my mom and dad are Scott and Nadia Navarro. I have three grandparents, one aunt, and two uncles. My best friends are Tristan and Collin and we love to do dumb things to get us in trouble. I graduated from Cornerstone Christian Schools in San Antonio Texas with about 50 kids in my graduating class. I love to go to the beach and the lake with my friends and my favorite sport is tennis. My favorite Bible verse is 1st Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”Slide Show

Playlist

1.) DJ Khaled- “I wanna be with you”

Although not many people take him seriously you have to admit DJ Khaled have put out hit after hit. This song in particular would be one of my top 5’s simply because it features 2 of the most popular MC’s out right now (Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross).

2.) Drake- “Enough Said”

Drake has transitioned the music industry in a positive way, and the fact that he uses the late Aaliyah vocals, who happens to be one of my favorite R&B artist, just takes the record to another level.

3.) Chris Brown- “Ain’t no way”

This song is from Chris Brown’s debut album and I still find it enjoyable till this day. The emotion he delivers speaks volumes.

4.) Justin Timberlake- “Until the end of time (Remix)”

Justin Timberlake and Beyonce are both powerhouse entertainers. This duet is fulfilled with soul and definitely grasps the audience attention.

5.) Justin Bieber- “Hold tight”

Hip hop/R&B is my favorite genre of music however I also enjoy listening to certain pop music. Justin Bieber hasn’t been in the best lime light recently but his music speak for itself.

6.) Childish Gambino- “3005”

Childish Gambino is a new and upcoming artist but he certainly proved his self when he released this song from my point of view. The chorus is quite catchy which initially caught my attention.

7.) JayZ- “Open letter”

Jay z is an iconic hip hop rapper turned business man who has achieved longevity. I chose  this song of his specifically because he addresses all the ups and downs he’s faced within that year including his Cuba scandal with the government.

8.) Kanye West- “New slaves”

Kanye West is an extremely controversial artist. His verses really make you think outside the box. This record is can be quite debatable depending on how you look at it.But overall he is trying to send a message.

Although it was extremely difficult to limit my life to eight pictures, these ultimately define who I am and what I care about. My family is always my first priority as they are my backbone and my support. My brother, Matteo, is the happiest and friendliest baby you’ll ever meet. He’s really made my family closer even though he only just turned one. My life outside of home consists of my friends, reading and the arts. My friends are the family I chose and will always be a big component of my life, no matter how far our colleges are from each other. As for reading, after being swamped with work during junior and senior year, I decided to get back into it. I created a pact with myself so that every month I have to read at least one book.  No matter where or when, I am always listening to a variety of music and have performed for as long as I can remember. I started with dance which I have done for fifteen years then went into acting. At five I did my first independent movie called Cherry Bloom. It wasn’t until I was in middle school that I started musical theater and singing but it’s taken me to places I wouldn’t have gone otherwise, both mentally and physically. I love to travel and have been lucky enough to have traveled a lot at a young age. On the world map in my room, I have dotted all the places I’ve been. They may seem like a lot to me but the world is enormous and there is still so much to see. However, there is absolutely no place like home; I was born, raised and will always come back to New York City.

Karalene My Playlist

Hey guys my name is Karalene. My playlist displays who exactly I am and what I like. I love music and I can’t spend more than two hours without listening to some kind of music. I love to listen to songs that get me moving  like me likey by Trevor Jackson. To me a great song is all about the beat and the words. Simple Things by Miguel has a great beat its very mellow and I can just close my eyes and listen to the words. Songs that make me feel something I tend to stay away from but I just can’t help it when it comes to Lana Del Reys young and Beautiful  and Sam Smiths safe with me, theses two songs makes me reflect on my life. Music that have a strong meaning to me helps me to change my opinion about a certain topic.  For example New Slaves by Kanye West is such a great song it gets you thinking about the world you live in and how you too are slaves. I hope you guys get a better understanding of who I am through my ten songs. I hope You enjoy 🙂 (P.S. you can just click the play button to play the playlist.)

This playlist describes me very well. I have multiple Riff Raff songs because I do not take life very seriously. His songs are full of joke lyrics. I have Judas Priest on my playlist because I love heavy metal rock music. I love to bang my head to some good metal music.  I have Erase Me by Kid Cudi to show that I have a deep side and actually have feelings even though I joke around a lot.  I put AC/DC because they are my absolute favorite  band. I grew up listening to AC/DC. That band basically represents my childhood. It also represents a bond between me and my father because he introduced the band to me.  I put the song O.K. Because it is another joking around song. I also love Tyler the Creator. He is one of my favorite rappers. My playlist is as diverse as my personality.

Hi, My name is Danny Lin. If you saw my playlist and haven’t notice, I like EDM music for the most part. I listen to rap and r&b also but prefer EDM more. EDM stands for electric dance music, it’s usually music that you hear at clubs and raves. It’s kinda like dub step  music and electro house music together. I enjoy listening to EDM music because it always pumps me up. For example in the gym it pumps me up to work harder and achieve more. EDM music usually start off with a slow beat and slowly builds up to a drop which everyone starts dancing to. This somewhat shows how my personality is. At first when people see me I’m usually quite and shy like the slow beats. When they slowly get to know me better I tend to be very outgoing and loud same as how the beat drops. If you guys haven’t listen to EDM I definitely recommend you try!

Freshmen Seminar Playlist : I Am ME

1. The first song I chose is because I love my mom and my grandmother unconditionally. There is absolutely no human being who comes before them.

2. I do identify my self as being christian and I believe everything I have and everything I am is because there is a “God in Me”.

3.Anything that you want in life you have to go and get. There is nothing that will come to you freely. If you want something that you have never had you are going to have to do something that you have never done in order to get it.

4. I love my life. I am grateful for everything that is handed to me. Mary does a great job of describing my view point of my life in the lyrics of this song.

5. I think I am very pretty and I love to do the pretty girl rock, rock , rock ( Keri Hilson’s voice) . This song definitely does give me a sense of self confidence whenever I listen to it.

6. I do believe that I am ” Just Like You” . For some reason I believe that everyone is on a search to find out who they are and so I do not believe that i am better than any one or inferior to any one but I am in fact “Just Like You”.

7. I love to spoil my self. Not in the same context as Kerwin Du Bois does but in terms of shopping and buying new bags.I feel like i deserve to spoil myself often being that I get everything that needs to be done, done.

8. This song basically is saying you should walk like a champion and talk like a champion. Make your self feel good and do not allow your self to feel like anything less than a champion. I guess I think I am a champion. This is also my dad’s favorite song.

9. I love carnival where people play mas and dress up in their costumes. I also do not focus too much of my energy on the negative things that other may think about me. Although I am very sensitive as a person I have learned that if people are going to talk you have to let them talk and simply be you.

10. Last but not least, I love to smile. Despite how bad your day may be going or how hard the past couple of days have been I always find that when you smile it helps to brighten up my entire mood. I consider it to be a free prescription.

Because Freshmen Seminar Told Me To [Make a Playlist]

http://grooveshark.com/playlist/What+I+Had+To+Do+For+Freshmen+Seminar/101129597

I honestly did not have an order when picking out the songs for this playlist (so it’s in alphabetical order)

1.  What is Love – Haddaway: I picked this song because it reminded me of one of my best friends, Earvin, throughout middle school and high school. Sadly, he moved to Florida. Every time I saw him, he would play this song to “get the party started.”

2. Warriors – Imagine Dragons: This is my current song. Am I supposed to relate to this? I wasn’t part of the warriors who built this town. But I think it’s very powerful. Most Imagine Dragons songs are.

3. This Love – Maroon 5: This was my favorite songs as a kid (and is still one of my favorites). Love is something I’ll never truly have a grasp on. Probably nobody will.

4. Simple & Clean (Music box Version): Kingdom Hearts. Another big part of my childhood. I’ve never been too good at the game. The soundtrack, however, is amazing. The music box version of Utada Hikaru’s Simple and Clean have always gotten me through the night if I couldn’t sleep.

5. Sexy Can I (ft. Yung Berg) – Ray J: This song is so out of place. This reminds me of my girl best friend Amy. She goes to Stony Brook now. We were the derpiest pair of kids to enter Brooklyn Tech. This song reminds me of her because it’s one of our guilty pleasure songs (or a song we’d be embarrassed to admit we like). She helped my figure out who I was in high school and built my confidence like crazy. I love this girl, or boy (sometimes she cross dresses under the name Andy).

6.  Lucky (ft. Colbie Caillat) – Jason Mraz: lucky to be in love with my best friend    Sometimes. I guess I’m still in love with my best friend? I should probably do something about that. It’s not the same guy was the one in song 1, promise.

7. I’ll Be There – Jackson 5: Oh goodness. This song is the epitome of my friend Jing. She’s always been there, since middle school as well. Even though there were times when we fought, when we saw each other again, we were nothing but friendly and accepting!

8.  Float On – Modest Mouse: This is apparently, my song. According to all of my friends, when they have to think of a song for me, they think of Float On. I guess it’s because I’m pretty optimistic. Or at least, I try to think on the bright side. It really hurt, when my friend left he wrote in my yearbook: we’ll all float on okay.

9. Flaws – Bastille: This really reminds me of my number one best friend Christian. He is means so much to me. He’s like the second pea in my pod, except we’re pretty derpy together. I guess two mangoes trying to fit in a pod??? We have a lot of differences and flaws, but without him I guess I wouldn’t be myself.

10. Colors of the Wind – (on the playlist it says Disney): Ha, a Disney song. This reminds me of my really close friend Patteera. She’s my bubble buddy (we established this over the summer). She’s like the second half of my brain. In one of the assignments, I wrote that a true friend is someone who will finish your lyrics. She finishes my lyrics whenever I start saying them out of nowhere, this song just happens to be our favorite. “You may think I’m an ignorant savage…

That’s about it! I guess I’m pretty friend – oriented. I don’t think thats such a bad thing

~Carolyn Quach

I’m bad, and that’s good. I will never be good, and that’s not bad. There’s no one I’d rather be then me.”

you gotta love Wreck- It- Ralph.
