Walking into Starbucks every morning I am too tired to form coherent thoughts. It is absolutely impossible for me to focus in any class without my morning cup of coffee from what I consider heaven. As I walk to the end of the line I become extremely aware of my surroundings. The smell of the freshly brewed coffee that is strong enough to make me want to order a trenta, but not overwhelming enough for me to actually do so. The subtle lighting that is not too dim nor too bright allowing me to clearly see the impatient looks of those still waiting on line to the satisfied expressions of those with their beverage already in hand. I hear the medley of voices from baristas and customers along with the mellow indie cafe music playing in the background. I order my usual: grande soy caramel macchiato and scan my card. I take a few steps and wait patiently for my medium-sized cup of happiness. I hear my name called, reach for my drink, and slowly take a sip of it. This experience helps me forget about any problems that don’t allow me to focus & all of my worries even if its just for a few minutes. With coffee in hand, I am now ready for class.
