Hello all, I decided to create a ten song musical playlist on Spotify for Blog Post One. I am going to split this into two paragraphs because the first five songs are what influenced me to start listening to a lot of music and the last five I discovered on my own throughout the years of listening to music everyday.
The first five songs I chose are ones most of us have heard of. A majority of our parents grew up listening to classic rock because of the time period they were born in. Music is huge throughout my entire family. My parents inspired me to have a taste of what they grew up with. Every Sunday when I was younger until today, my Dad would play the stereo on full blast from afternoon until night. I say my Dad and not my Mom because she had a little different taste in music, but none the less no one would complain. The Likes of the Doobie Brothers, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, and Kiss flowed through my ear drums. As a kid, I would jump around the living room dancing like a maniac. The problem was this would only happen on Sundays because both of my parents worked, and they were too tired after work to start listening to music. The music we listened to would be too energetic to play after a long, tiring, work filled day. This is when I was determined to get a stereo system in my room. I will never forget the day that happened. My Dad bought himself a new stereo, thus I got his old monster set in my room which would not only play CD’s and Cassettes but also vinyl records. I like to call this the beginning of a beautiful relationship with music because I could listen to it whenever I wanted. I could even ask my parents to get me my own CD’s that my Dad did not have available.
The last five songs I chose I discovered on my own. As I grew older, I would continue to listen to the classics but enjoyed listening to anything that sounded good. I will listen to any genre except Country. Thankfully, the majority of people I have become friends with enjoy the same beats. A typical weekend for me and my friends would be to cruise around with the windows down listening to music on our way to no destination in particular. Music has made me enjoy the little things in life. I have learned that I can be happy doing anything as long as I have my music with me. Till the day that I die, I will never stop listening to music. It has had too much of an impact on me to just not be there anymore.
