Hey Guys. I decided to do the ten songs that represent me for Blog Post One. The first six songs I chose are based on the lyrics and how they represent me. I did not concentrate on the beat, rhythm or genre of these songs, just lyrics, so it may be a weird combination of songs.
The first song is “The Distance” by Cake. This song represents me because I like to finish whatever I start, even if I don’t have to. It bothers me when I leave something incomplete, I do it for self-satisfaction. The second song is “Kryptonite” by 3 Doors Down. The first time I heard this song I thought it was weird, but then I listened carefully to the lyrics and liked it. Like the song, I help people when they need help, but I can’t always help everyone when they need it. Also, some people appreciate it and thank me while others don’t care that I did something to help them and may ignore me. Next is “Float On” by Modest Mouse. When I do something bad or by accident, I always start to panic and think of the worst, but usually nothing happens afterwards. Everything ends up being alright, just like the song. The forth song would be “Never Too Late” by Three Days Grace, because it is never too late to change yourself. Everyone has something they need to change, especially myself. I like the next song which is “In One Ear” by Cage the Elephant. I don’t let what people say bother me. When someone calls me something or says something mean, it goes over my head. I could care less for someone’s negative opinion about me. Last for the lyric based music is “Hold Your Color” by Pendulum. I’m not sure if I interpreted this song correctly, but I think it is about standing up for what you believe in, even if it costs you. I stick up for my beliefs even if I know I won’t win (like with my mother).
The next four songs are ones I like and can listen to on repeat. It is said that you can tell a lot about a person from the way they dress, the way they talk, and the music they listen to (not sure about the last one). Hopefully the music I listen to is enjoyable for everyone.
The first for this set of songs is “Your Gonna Go Far Kid” by The Offspring. I like this song because it gives me energy; it wakes me up and makes me want to do something energetic. Next is “Jerk It Out” by Caesars. To me it is a catchy, addicting song to listen to, with a nice beat and good vocals. The third song is “Midnight City” by M83. When I first listened to this song, I did not know how I felt about it. I had to listen to it the next day to realize I liked it, but still thought it was kind of weird. Last on my playlist is “25 or 6 to 4” by Chicago. I was introduced to this song during Jazz Ensemble in high school. I listened to it online to hear how it sounded and loved it. This song was on repeat for a couple days after and I knew how to play it for band.
