Anthony’s Monologue

Getting ready for our last match of the year, my robotics team and I were remembering our journey to the Super-Regional Championship in York, Pennsylvania. We remember having our robot break itself during Qualifiers Tournament due to electrical errors, the amazing victories we had, started for 5th place, dropping to 33rd and slowly got up to 9th and won the Qualifier championship match. It was a long and stressful journey with tough opponents, no funding, and sometimes non-corporative teammates, but we ended up advancing to the Super-Regional Championship. The beginning of the Championship was amazing, being undefeated the whole day. We thought that we had the World Championships in the bag, but during the third day of the Super-Regionals we lost every round we played. By then we knew we were finished when we saw that we went from 3rd place to 40th place out of a total of about 50, and we knew we would not have another miracle like the one at a Qualifier. When we went back to school our principal was telling the team how happy he was and how we went the furthest he has ever seen the team go. Even though we went so far to lose at the end, we were all happy to make it that far, meet new teams, and even get “known” by other teams that may or may not be better than ours. Now all we can do is help the new team get as far as we did.
