Majors Minors Fair

So on Thursday i had the chance to visit the majors and minors fair. I felt that it was kind of a little late since my registration was the week before and i had to go looking for all the people that i needed before the fair. It worked out for me though since i got the classes that i needed at good time. One thing though that irked me at the majors minors fair is the absence of tMajors Minorshe natural sciences department. They were probably the only reason that i had though of going to the fair. I was pissed for a total of 10 seconds then i was like well i’m here might as well look into some other stuff. I spoke to the mathematics department because i was interested in a specific topic. I wanted to know how far i would have to go into mathematics till i reach what is called the chaos theory. They told me you would have to border around the 3000-4000 courses. Due to that i might actually consider minoring or majoring in mathematics just to reach that point. Along with the mathematics department i looked around a little bit afterwards. It was pretty quiet, not many people had come. I thought more people would take advantage of this opportunity but i guess not. All in all in was pretty useful to go even though the natural sciences department wasn’t there.

Trip to the Rubin

Last week i was able to visit the Rubin Museum With My bro Tony. Upon entering we were very lucky because apparently CUNY used to have an agreement with The Rubin Museum but they never renewed it so the Rub

in Museum gave all CUNY students a grace period until October 31st to go in for free. Tony was so glad and relieved. Upon ent20161019_175414ering the Rubin Museum i realized that it was completely different from the two museums that i had already visited in the past (MOMA, The MET) The art pieces were amazing. I learned about what was called Garuda, The King of Birds a half bird, half human that was a companion to the Hindu god Vishnu. This Piece looked amazing. It looked like a little golden bird in a battle stance. Another piece that really Attracted me was the Guardian King which existed during the Qing Dynasty in China. The sculptures are said to be set on the four cardinal directions, commonly used to guard the entrance to temples. The Guardian King looked really amazing because its eyes looked like those of a real person. They shone and looked like they followed you. All in all i had an amazing trip and learned a lot about a new and interesting form of art.20161019_175745 rubin-pic

Jumping Into My History

On Friday September 16 i had the amazing experience of visiting the MET for the first time. I went with my friends Ruana and Halina. During my time there I was greatly reminded of my time in Egypt. Walking through the Ancient Egyptian Art area I saw a lot of the statues and monuments that looked like the ones in Egypt. When I entered Gallery room 131 it was like a blast from the past. The room was dimly lit and it seemed as though I was walking in one of the caves located in the Valley of the Kings. It was truly amazing being able to see the art from my ancestors. What their beliefs and culture was and how it differs to mine now.

Visiting the MET reminded me of how interesting and intricate my history is and how there is so much that I can learn form the past. Going to the met has all in all been an experience that was very impact-full on me. It Brought back a passion that I had for digging deep and learning about history, a passion that I had let die down long ago.
