I had the chance to go to a SEO workshop. For those who don’t know, SEO is a Business internship program with tons of students from various colleges and partnerships with many big name businesses. The workshop’s purpose was to showcase the program, hopefully recruit some interested students, and to give the listeners various tips about resume writing. The Do’s and Don’ts, the complicated whatchamacallits and finicky whatsits, and they even showed some examples of their own.
It was fairly interesting, although some of the advice conflicted with the advice I received from my business classes. One of those somewhat conflicting points was the matter of white space in a resume. The business class recommended minimizing white space as much as possible, while the program told us to not clutter the resume with text. I was certainly entertained by the presentation, but alas, SEO was targeted mostly towards Black, Hispanic, and Native American undergraduates. Nevertheless, I am certainly a little more confident in avoiding those mistakes when I start writing my own resume.
Hi Sam,
Despite all the confusion, I’m glad you took something out of the workshop!
