On November 9th, I attended the Majors and Minors Fair at Baruch. The fair was filled with tables with representatives of alot of different majors and minors that Baruch offered. The representatives all were every welcoming and willing to answer any questions that the students  would ask about their major or minor. The more popular major tables such as Accounting, Finance and Management were crowned . Some of the tables had a few representatives who are teachers of the class for that major or minor. Getting a chance to talk to actual teachers and build a relationship before enrolling in that. They also explained  what courses you needed to be finished in order to have the correct credits to graduate.

I felt that this Major and Minors Fair helped me better understand the path I have to take to complete my major and what minor would best fit with my major. After attending the fair I went home and changed my Three Plan for Baruch College. I would advise students to attend the fair. If you don’t know what major you want to take the fair can help you and you can get advice from people that are in that field. Even if you know what major you want to attend you should still attend the fair because you’re able to learn more about your major and get important information about minors.

For my student life blog post I will be talking about my experience at Success Network. Success Network is an organization that helps student prepare for college life and also prepare them for a successful future.
At first I was extremely frustrated that had to go. I never been a part of an organization before and I felt as if this was a waste of time. After doing the doing the workshops and talking to some teachers and older students my attitude started to change. Doing this allowed me to learn about myself with the activities we did such as learning our top 5 personality traits. On September 28 we had another meeting where we talked about how the transition has been so for and how to be prepared to apply for next semester.
Joining this organization definitely made me feel more prepared for college and my future. I definitely would advise someone to join an organization or a club even if it’s not this one because the connection you build with the people there and the knowledge you get is something you can’t learn in the classroom.

For my first enrichment workshop I have decided to attend the Whitney Museum. Being this was my first time ever going to an art museum and attending an exhibition I did not know what to expect. The museum displays paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, installation art, video, and photography. Each floor had different art styles and the stair displayed art models hanging down the stairs. See the different forms of arts and back story that come with each piece really peeked my interest.

The piece that interested me the most was Life and Politics by Oiticica. In 1964 an artist by the name of Hélio Oiticica home country home country of brazil was taken over by a military dictatorship. Hélio work was popular in Rio and he work became more political. He created a piece call “seja marginal, seja heroi” which means be an outlaw, be a hero. This allowed me to reflect on our class discussion on leadership. In Nelson Mandela’s 8 lessons of leadership this art is relatable with nothing is black or white. You don’t have to be an outlaw or a hero, you can be both.
