Roller Hockey Club

This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to go to roller hockey club. As a grave notice to all room 3-240 is not between 3-239 and 3-241, but rather between the helpline center and the club office suite area. This was my first mistake as I spent 10 minutes searching for the room and only after finding someone with a hockey jersey did we realize where to go.Turns out his name was BIlly and he is the goalie. Upon finally finding and entering the room, the smell of pizza and soda hit my nostrils. An all too familiar smell in an unfamiliar place. I was then greeted by ten other people who have yet to become my teammates. Mouths full, we proceeded to introduce ourselves and our previous playing experience. After the formalities, we proceeded to go over the expectations we had for the season, games and equipment. For those familiar with ice hockey, roller hockey is the same but with minimal equipment (skates, gloves, stick and shin pads) and lines of 4. Forms were handed out, those under 18 had to get them notarized; luckily I am 18. Tryouts were also set for next week during club hours at the roller hockey rink on 98th street. That meeting sparked motivation in me. A newfound motivation that also allowed me to join an ice hockey team that night. I would have never thought I would be back playing the sport I love. It goes to show that even in the most unfamiliar of places you find something you love. As a testament to me being there and strictly for anyone interested photos have been attached of the papers handed out during the meeting.
