As I approached the Metropolitan Museum of Art, I could feel the culture and sophistication in the air. The famous steps made me feel as if I was leaving New York City and being transported to a heaven of sorts. The massive building has an air of importance and prestige, and I felt proud as I walked in. I ascended the stairs toward the European paintings and was struck immediately by the beautiful, massive paintings hanging on the walls. Walking through the galleries, I felt like there was no end to them; at every turn I made there was yet another room with more art. I particularly enjoyed seeing famous paintings that had learned about in my art history class. I learned so much from this experience, and plan on returning soon.
