My Experience at the Delta Sigma Pi General Interest Meeting

Since my major was Finance and Investments, I figured that it would be in my best interest to find professional business organizations or fraternities. This week, I attended the Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) general interest meeting mainly because it was a business fraternity. What was nice was that when I first walked in, they were offering free fried chicken and biscuits from Popeye’s to people who attended the meeting. So right off the bat, I got a really great impression of them. What I learned from that meeting was Delta Sigma Pi is a professional business fraternity that’s based on campus. They are co-ed. 50% of the brothers are finance majors, Around 20% are accounting and another 20% are marketing with around 10% that are others. They have 3 pillars that must be followed: brotherhood, professionalism, and community service. The fraternity has brothers working in some of the top firms like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Deutsche, Deloitte, Ernst & Young and other respected companies. They offer many different things for members such as resume building workshops, career and networking advice, and connection building. In addition, they sometimes have people come in and talk about experiences and advice that can provide some insight about how to be professional with the people around you,
It’s fairly different for everyone, but I believe that by joining this, I can definitely benefit from the resume building workshops, getting networking and career advice, and just making more connections in general. I really don’t regret going to this first general interest meeting because it really enlightened me on the many opportunities in front of me.
