Time is money so I made the most of my time by attending two meetings on Thursday. I started off the day by heading to the adventurous club meeting to fulfill my passion for adrenaline. I heard this was the club to go to if I was interested in doing outdoor activities and thrill seeking events. Once enough people gathered inside we started off with two icebreakers so we could all get to know each other. We played the game “chief”, and said our names along with an adjective. The purpose of this club is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle along with providing students with fun activities to relieve their stress throughout the school year. The president made us all feel welcomed and the rest of the faculty included all types of student that promoted diversity in the club and made all types of students feel welcomed. They explained that they are various scheduled events and the most popular one of course is paintball. The club has events ranging from paintball to snowboarding to playing sports. The intention is to keep active while having fun and making new friends. I personally believe this club is unique and will provide myself along with the other students a fun way to get to socialize and better improve ourselves individually. Once the meeting was coming to an end, we were offered Subway cookies which is something I couldn’t resist, and once I got my cookie I then headed over to the FES meeting. At the FES meeting I was offered pizza and then we were sat down to hear what the club was about and the requisites in order to be in the club. The purpose of this club is to introduce their members to the careers and opportunities that have to deal with Finance and Economics. The club offers networking opportunities along with personal development and resume building shops for their members. Once we got the rundown of what the club is about we were split up into groups and were given raw spaghetti with tape and a marshmallow. We had to build a structure and the group who built the highest standing structure that was able to hold up the mushroom without falling would win. My team apparently received false information and one of the club members allowed us to use as much tape as we could. Since we were given that information from a club member we used all the tape we could to make the tallest structure. Our structure demolished the rest of the competition but when it came down to the final inspection we were disqualifies since we didn’t follow the initial rules. We found this unfair but we took our disqualification with pride and kept our head up. The meeting ended on that note and this is a club that I’m looking forward to.
