We went to a workshop which was called “resume writing guide” last Thursday. The professor there told us that we were in the Baruch and resume was pretty necessary for us. Resume is really the first impression to an employer and it can help employers know us better.
First of all, the resume must convince the employer within a matter of seconds that you are a qualified candidate for the position and should be interviewed. Therefore, it is necessary that you put significant effort into creating a resume that is clear, concise and relevant to the position.
Every resume has its own format. The chronological resume is the most widely used format. Its defining feature is the listing of work experience in reverse chronological order, with the most recent work experiences listed first. Most employers prefer this format.
Here are some useful tips for writing a resume. Resumes must be one page, unless you have significant work experience. Font size should be between 10 and 12 point and margins can be ½ inch to 1 inch. Bolding is used minimally and consistently, to emphasize what is most important. And each bullet has 3 parts: an action verb, a specific task that is quantified, and a specific outcome or result.
And above all, always be truthful about your accomplishments and background.

The MET museum
I went to the MET museum with my friends on the afternoon of Sep 15,2017.The museum is still very big and full of galleries as I first time visited there.
We went there with a history assignment of visiting Mesopotamia part and China part. The first thing we did was to get a map of this big museum. There are a lot of sections there and we cost a long time for finding the right section.
The most impressive part would be the Chinese arts section. That part is so amazing. There are a lot of fantastic traditional Chinese art works there.I’m from China and I am working for a Auction House as a part time job.But I still saw a lot amazing Chinese arts that I’ve never seen before, such as the Buddha and guanyin statues.
We cost almost 3 hours for only 2 sections but we really learned a lot of detailed things. The whole museum is very quiet and is in a good environment. It’s really a good place for visiting and studying some historical knowledges.
At CCF
I went to CCF last Thursday. The full name of CCF is Chinese Christian Fellowship. This club serve Christian students and faculty to explore the relevance of the Christian faith to every aspect of their lives. And they also help freshmen get into the big “society” of Baruch quickly.
Before I went to this club,I had no idea about where I supposed to go.So I just looked around the whole school for searching some special clubs. After a while,I passed by their general meeting room with my friends and getting attracted to their amazing activities. The members there are so nice and hearty. So my friends and I just walked into the room and took a look.
We did some interesting games at first. That was a game called “trees and squirrels”,which is game that I never heard about. After all members knew a little bit of each others,we started singing hymns. At that moment, the whole classroom was very peaceful. Then president and some old members shared some useful tips and their opinion for this club. The most impressive sentence they said was “It’s okay if you believe this religion or not,we can just be a good family here without any purposes.”
At the end of the class,we took a big family photo which is at the top of this blog. The reason why I post this photo instead of my selfie is that this photo really explain the word “family” perfectly.Hope all of us here could keep this word in mind from now on.
