Homecoming for a CUNY school wasn’t what I expected. It was really cool to see al the activities that were provided for the students and new ways to join clubs, meet new people, watch a funny sports game and be introduced to the many cultures of Baruch. Brittany and I really wanted to get Henna but we kept missing the booth, it was upsetting but it would’ve been cool if we were able to get it because from what we saw the other people getting it was gorgeous. We also then went to the gym and watched a flag football game, it was all fun and games at first but then it got really serious when some of our classmates decided to join the game. It almost felt like a real life sports experience because we got the foam fingers, t-shirts, and those cheerleader type pom poms. It was really fun and cool to hang out with everyone and have something to do to pass the 3 hour wait period before our next class. It’s nice to see how Baruch really tries to have a “private” college experience for Homecoming. I really feel like I’m getting used to the school and I’m not scared to meet people as much anymore. Now I know that I’ll be ready for next semester, I of course won’t be perfect and will have a couple of slip ups but that’s part of the college experience. Homecoming, club hours, the freshman seminar classes and all the offices that Baruch has to offer is a part of the experience. They are all there to help when you think you have now where else to go. Now even with the advisors that are given to us it will make the process easier. Homecoming was such a fun time and it made me realize that Baruch is an even bigger community than I thought it was.

Major/minor fair
I attended the majors and minors fair Thursday, November 9. I really didn’t want to do this but I had no choice. While I was there, I might as well try to learn as much as my major so I approached the Finance table. They informed me about the differences about finance and accounting, and how hard it is going to be trying to get a job. Not going to lie, it was an in and out thing so I didn’t spend much time, but it was enjoyable for the little time I spent there.
Blog Post #3
Last week Thursday my friend and I went to the Major Minor Fair offered at Baruch. Although the fair was interesting, and very inviting, I was not really all that captivated because I’m sure as to what my major will be. I’ve decided to be an English major because it’s what I love, and for many years I thought it wouldn’t be possible to make a career out of my passion, my recent internship proved me otherwise. Most of my bosses at Grove Atlantic, a leading independent American publisher, were English majors and inspired me to pursue a degree in English–and hopefully at publishing company much like Grove. As for my minor, the fair did give me some ideas as to what I could possibly do, although I’m nowhere near sure as to what I want to do with that, and I’m in no particular rush to decide. I was thinking either Finance, Sociology, or Journalism, but with Journalism I was considering that as a double major. It’s a lot to think about and the fair did give me that push I needed to start getting all the details of my major and minor together.
