On tuesday 11/14/17, I visited the Starr Career Development Center with David after having class. We walked in and spoke to a person there. I asked to get information about any workshops and events they have coming up and they were very helpful and directed me towards their schedule. They explained what type of activities they do. For example, the office can help with exploring your career and seeing what is best fit for you. They can help you with reviewing your resumes and assist with preparing you for any upcoming interviews. I thought it was interesting that this office even offers to provide any business attire you might need in case you have an interview coming up. This great tool and center can help you with making a wise decision about a job or internship opportunity and in the future about with major or minor you decide to choose. I hope to make a better use of it in the near future when I am applying for internships and jobs. In the future, I want to be part of a mentoring program or service and they told me, I can go speak to them for opportunities related to that. I 100% recommend everyone to go and visit the Starr Career Development Center to give you a sense or direction in terms of your career and studies. After inquiring information from the Starr Career Development Center, I have become interested in the Rising Starr Sophomore program which is a program that helps students of all majors and disciplines to get a headstart with their careers. The Starr Career Development Center is a very helpful tool and program that is offered through Baruch College.

As pictured above, you can probably guess that these images were taken at the Museum of Modern Art most commonly referred to as the MoMA. Last week, Saima and I decided to go on an adventure at the MoMA. We discovered that the MoMa has a collection of 200,000 pieces of abstract, modern and contemporary art. There were many interesting paintings by famous artists like Louise Bourgeois, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst and even the famous painting of “The Starry Night” by Vincent Van Gogh. “The Starry Night” was one of my favorite paintings. It was surreal for me to see the authentic painting in real life because when I used to be in elementary school there was always a poster of this painting on the walls and to finally be able to see the original thing is quite amazing. It takes me back to my childhood and being in the art class. It is very nostalgic! My favorite section of the museum was the “ITEMS: IS FASHION MODERN?”. In that section, the best artwork in my opinion was A-POC Queen Textile by Issey Miyake and Fujiwara Dai in 1997. Miyake and Dai’s artwork was supposed to show a system in which clothing was being self-produced by mass production and conventional textile production. It was very fun and interesting to explore all the art galleries and exhibits in the museum with Saima. We were even able to capture some artsy photos. Overall, a very nice experience and one of my favorite museums I’ve been to. I would a 100% recommend the MoMa to anyone.

This picture was taken at a Beta Alpha Psi’s general meeting last Thursday in the Newman Vertical building. Beta Alpha Psi is one of Baruch’s most prestigious and oldest business fraternity. At the beginning of the meeting, we all had to sign-in online and then the members and the board of the fraternity proceeded with talking about the qualifications of rushing the fraternity and what activities they do. They talked about the fraternity’s main goals of brotherhood, professionalism and community service. To be honest, I did not like the club that much because of the fact that they are interested in people who are finance, accounting or csi majors. I will not be joining the club because I am a biology major, but I would be interested in attending some of their future activities and events. I am open to and would like to join new clubs in order to meet new people.
