For the careers workshop, I went to the major and minors fair. I found it to be pretty interesting and useful. I went over to the accounting major and listened in on what she was saying. The information I gathered from that will hopefully benefit me in the future. I also grabbed the paper for accounting majors that shows what classes are required for zicklin and the major itself. Following that, I was given a little survey to fill out and give back to the people on if the fair was helpful, which it was, and if I’ll be changing my major, which I won’t. Finally, Justin and I took a pic with the bearcat because why not make that our selfie.

Public Speaking Workshop
Justin and I went to a workshop on public speaking hosted by the Sigma Alpha Delta honor society. Dr. Minei gave a presentation on The V’s of Self-Presentation. She discussed the topics of verbal, visual, and vocal. All of which she explained how to present ourselves in situations such as family gatherings, presentations, interviews, etc. For example, verbally which words to use and not to use, and understanding difference in culture because areas of the U.S. use words differently. Visually, how to appear. Like how to dress and how your posture should be, how to give a proper handshake. Vocally, how to speak in terms of tone and hand gestures. She ended with a segment called “developing your toolbox” which are like motivational things to make us most comfortable before we present something. Self-care, Backstage Ritual, Posture, Express Success, Dress for you, Using props wisely, and Proofread your look were the sections. Throughout the workshop, she had us do group activities and all the people knew each other because they’re in the society but I’m not, so I was talking to several new people and the workshop was helping me do it comfortably. This workshop immediately helped me with my public speaking and will help me in the future. I’m not the most open person and I don’t enjoy presentations so the tips she gave will help me get a job in the future, help me with future presentations, and even with family occasions.
Absolute Adrenaline
I went to the absolute adrenaline general information meeting. I didn’t think to take a selfie at the time so I have a confirmation email subscribing to their newsletter. I found it to be very interesting. They perform activities both after school and out of school so it seems like a very nice community and I’m interested in joining them. They perform activities like paintball, dodgeball, rock climbing, etc; all activities that are fun to do with a bunch of friends and that’s the environment I get from the club.
They will have events every so often and attending one of those events will officially make me a member of the club. I’m thinking about going to the paintball event or the sports night because that’s what I’m most interested in. I initially went to the club because I saw the name and said hey this looks like it can be pretty interesting, the name basically attracted me to the club. At the club the leaders were very friendly and made me very interested in joining.
