Walking into the TEAM Baruch meeting, I didn’t think I would have the time or be the one to stand in front of a class and attempt to mentor them to have a better experience. While listening to two members of TEAM Baruch speak of their experience and time, they deemed it as an experience worthwhile that doesn’t take as much time out of your week as you may think. I was intrigued enough to apply to TEAM Baruch and am now awaiting an upcoming interview, and see myself being a peer mentor, much like my own peer mentor Myrah who actually seems to care for my Block and wants us to genuinely enjoy our time in college. Not only will it hopefully be an addition to my resume, but it will also help me grow as a leader and a person, while helping others.

School of Visual Arts Gallery
First walking into the gallery, I didn’t expect much for school artworks coming into the gallery. However once we walked into one of the main rooms with all of the main artworks, i began to see this consistency in the definition of destruction and catastrophe. I saw others passing by without taking a moment to consider the art, however I stood there and looked at the magnificent work of abstract art and photography which doesn’t make sense to most people. While looking at the art, I saw work that puts images that are absurd on their own, yet, when put together it creates a work of understood art. I saw the perspective behind the students who made such works, and understood that there is more to it than it seems. The gallery was small, but had a great impact on my friends and I as we saw meaningful art, that seems minute. Though, it may seem insignificant, we were able to concur that there is more to the art than it seems, and we learned not to judge art by its cover. Overall the experience was pleasant as it was a smaller gallery, and allowed us to take in each and every art work without being bored or in a rush of any sort. Art is a great way to express ideas, and is a fun way to enjoy your time while learning.
Alpha Club’s Resumé 101 Workshop
When my father was laid off in the economic crash of 2008, I remember sitting there with him, attempting to find out which words made him sound as the most qualified employee who should be working in the office. Though, i did not understand much about jobs and what it took to become a so called “employee.” I started working at the age of 13, and was only employed by two different employers up to even today. I was looking for a way to make myself sound more professional as I attempt to find a new and better job. As I was looking through the list, I was glad to fine the Resume 101 workshop. In the workshop I was informed of interview questions and ways to establish relationships with the employer. Alpha Club gave us real life impersonations and tips and tricks for those brownie points with employer. Alpha Club also showed us how there is nothing to worry about or be stressed for or during an interview. They also taught us how to set up online profiles and interact with employers properly in order to succeed in the art of resumé making and job application.
