Freshman Seminar Fall 17 LC06

academic blog

For my first academic blog, I decided to The Met Cloisters, which is located on four acres overlooking the Hudson River in northern Manhattan’s Fort Tyron Park with my old friends , classmates and my high school teacher on last weekend. The Met Cloisters is the baruch of the Museum dedicated to the art, architecture and gardens of medieval Europe.

The Met cloisters was one of the most favorite museum I visited. On that day , we all met  at the 14th subway station and we took the 6 train transfer the A train to there. We walk through the Tyron garden between the subway stop and the entrance – a short walk really but full of flowers and very enjoyable. It’s beautifully, hilly, with a nice view of the Palisades, and the top notch museum is practically a bonus. In the museum, the art on the walls is also from all over Europe. Most of the tapestries are from the Nederland. Really cool: there is a whole room about the catching of the unicorn.

However, it was so close to the river, wandering through a medieval castle or the extensive gardens. It’s quiet. The Cloisters really does make me feel like I aren’t in New York City, with it’s medieval artwork and tapestries. In my opinion, everything about this place is soothing. We sat down on the the lawn, ate together and we share the new things in the college.

I love this museum, enjoy the nature there.  I will be back next time and I hope I could go there with my new college friends and classmates. We could have a picnic and play games there.
