Freshman Seminar Fall 17 LC14

Career Workshop

This career workshop i have attended was called The Spotlight Series: Careers in Risk Management, which focus on the amount of risk in investment, insurance, and etc. that regards with the chances of losing money from simple loans for customers to high risk taking decisions for companies. From this workshop, I also learn that Risk Management not only is needed in any companies to help out its budget levels but also requires a lot of risk taking because you are controlling what the companies next move in development.

“The Met”

Last week I went visit the Metropolitan Museum of Arts, also known as The Met; the museum not only provided all forms of arts from around the world but also incorporate all forms of style of arts. From architecture to landscapes and sculptures, each of these styles provide a brief history about the time period of that specific artwork. My favorite artwork from this museum is The Tomb of Perneb, which is one of the most eye catching parts of the museum when I enter into the exhibition halls and it caught my attention because this is one of the monuments that was brought over from Egypt to the Big Apple for it is one one the major tombs of the Saqqara era.

Latinx- Family Feud

My friend and I attended the Latinx- Family Feud event today; we were able to saw in the audience and watch six teams from various clubs held in Baruch, each individual of these teams take part in “latinx” related topics; groups like, Woman Empowered for Success, Lexicon, LASD, Ecuadorian club, ASEDOM, and USG. These topics can be as simple as famous Latin athletics to Latinx cultures. I not only was able to learn more about the Latinx cultures and background but also able to meet new people and friends from various Latin-ethic groups. But this event isn’t the only event they will be hosting through out the fall semester. They will be also hosting a Deconstructing Racism In Latino Culture with Shirley de Pena and Ramon Garcia, where they will be breaking down each Latinx community and cultures during that event and I am very interested in attend this event on that day.
