Dining Etiquette Workshop

Earlier this month, I attended a Career Workshop by the SCDC. This workshop was about the importance of dining etiquette with professionals and it taught us some of the most important things to remember when on a dinner interview. Some of the things they taught were kind of common sense, like placing a napkin on your lap or excusing yourself before you leave a table. But other things they taught us that were really interesting and weird were the two main styles of eating and how to properly eat soup. It was a little hard to follow this workshop because we were not actively participating in it. When you’re just sitting there listening to new things that you’re supposed to do but not actively doing it, it’s a little hard to remember when the day comes that you’re going on a dinner interview. I would definitely attend another one of these types of workshops but maybe if it presents to opportunity to actually be in a similar setting to one I would be in during a dinner interview. The lady that ran the workshop said that those types of workshops are offered through the school so I will definitely keep my eye out for them.  Overall, the workshop was very interesting and opened my eyes to what is considered the proper dining etiquette. It was very informational and I will definitely try to practice the skills I actually remember when I get the opportunity to.
