Freshman Seminar Fall 17 LC14

Alpha Kappa Psi

Lately, I have been attending multiple rush events for Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity. Last Wednesday, they had their AK psi’s alumni night, which featured 4 brothers who graduated and came back to talk about their experiences. The four people were Vincent, Gavin, Minjee and Ria. Vincent majored in accounting at Baruch and works at HSBC. Gavin is in marketing, Minjee works in Human Resources, and Ria manages a team for catering at Bear Burger. For the first 45 minutes, they were asked questions on how they did at Baruch, and what they recommended freshmen and sophomores to do. From what I gathered, joining AK psi was very beneficial to their professional careers and gave them the experience and connections needed at their jobs. They also mentioned to keep up a good GPA, how to network with other people in the college, as well as out of Baruch. It’s good for people to make a lot of friends throughout their college experience since most of the networks come out of friendships. Afterwards, rushes, bros, and alumnis mingled and networked with each other. I talked with Rashid, an alumni who graduated this past spring. We talked about our interests and how akpsi helped him through his 4 years. I talked to a lot of bros, who mentioned how akpsi allowed them many opportunities at different internships and companies. Overall, I enjoyed listening to the alumni’s talking about their experiences and their advice to the underclassmen. I learned a lot from this rush event and I will definitely attend more, as well as try to get into akpsi.
