On October 30th, Annie and I went to an Internship Seminar Workshop. This seminar ran from 3pm-4:30pm and we managed to fit it in our schedule because our math class for that day was cancelled. At this workshop, we learned about internships and how we could find and apply for them. The presenter, Michael Kalish explained about On Campus Recruitment, where representatives from companies come to Baruch to recruit and interview students to intern for them. This was interesting to learn about because I would like to intern in the upcoming spring semester/summer, so it was very convenient for me to attend this workshop. The presenter also reminded us that Baruch has many resources: they have many workshops to help us find internships, they offer help with resumes, and etc. I would definitely go to a resume workshop in the future to have a professional take a look at my resume and fix it up. This workshop was very helpful with providing information about internships and reminding us how we should take advantage of the free things offered by Baruch.

This weekend, Annie and I went to Queens County Farm Museum. There were animals, pumpkins, and people everywhere. This museum offered plenty of activities like tours, a corn maze, petting area, and pumpkin picking, and more. At the petting area, we were given lettuce to feed the animals. They had cattle, sheep, pigs, hens, goats, and rabbits in the petting area. Additionally, they also had honeybees in another section of the farm. We also explored their gift shop, which sold fresh eggs, honey from their bees, and yarn from their alpacas and sheep. At the corn maze, the tour guide explained the rules and told us that we had to find clues and solve puzzles to get out of the maze, which we ended up doing. The tour explored the historic farm, and taught about crops, livestock, honeybees, and compost. The tour showed what it took to grow a variety of crops and produce items like honey, eggs, yarn, and etc.

On Thursday last week, I attended the general interest meeting for Alpha Kappa Psi, a coed business fraternity that will introduce you to new people and get internships. At the meeting, they explained that they had many resources that would help us make the best out of college. They would help out with resumes, networking, interviews, so that we could get any internship/job that we want. They also had free food and drinks at the meeting. There are 150 members at Baruch and 240,000 worldwide. My cousin (at Baruch) and brother (at Binghamton University) are also part of this fraternity, and they recommended that I join this fraternity because they both said that you make a lot of connections/friends and that the frat helps you succeed in your business career, which can definitely be seen by the amount of people that they have in the fraternity worldwide. This fraternity has many alumni in the “Big Four Accounting Firms (Deloitte, PwC, E&Y, and KPMG),” which aids in getting jobs because they’ll look to hire more people from Baruch. I will definitely attend the next meeting that they have coming up.
