On September 7th i went to a general interest meeting held by Alpha Kappa Psi, who are one of the professional fraternities in Baruch. The general interest included a video made by the club members. They all gave us a little information on what the club is about and what we should expect if we wish to commit our time and effort to this organization. They said that they placed a high emphasis on philanthropy, and that’s when they proceeded to tell us that the activity for that club would be to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a homeless shelter. It was quite an interesting experience. With about 50-60 people working together in making these sandwhiches, most of whom did not know one another. This experience has helped me in my first year at Baruch because it gave me an insight to what fraternities really are like in Baruch. Most colleges have those crazy party fraternities, but the ones here are contributing something positive to the community. This also helped me understand what club hours are typically like in baruch. The whole place was bouncing with music and it was overall a positive attitude. Baruch seems like a friendlier place.
