Another idea I have is a African American kid who for a school project was told to pick out a job they want to do in the future so that they can present it. The kid had a whole posted board ready to prepare his dream job of becoming a cop. On his way to school he witnesses a kid trying to throw away a gum wrapper from afar. He misses and goes to get it back. From a far a cop is running at him. He pushes the kid to the wall asking him why he littered. The kid not being able to breathe desperately tries to tell the cop “I cant breath” while there are people around him taking a video. This will be the kids sort of eye opener that the country is more broken than he expected because the cops are not really good guys. This won’t be the end as the kid will learn from it and continue to pursue becoming a cop so that he can protect his neighborhood correctly.
I got this point because of my previous assignments. The first core assignment helped as it was an analysis of a multimedia project that was based on police brutality. Of course the level of quality is not there but it’s helpful to see the symbolism Kendrick Lamar used within his music video. The second assignment really helped to formulate my own understanding of police brutality. Currently they are looking more into the training of police systems to see if there is anything they can change there. The style of it will be pretty similar to the example. I will be using multiple images to convey my message. These images won’t just be any I hope to show ones that have a meaning behind. Sort of like the thoughts that enter into our minds when something eventful happens.

Hey Masbah! I really like your plot being relevant to issues in today’s society and I think that you are trying to create a coming of age film which are one of my favorite genres. I hope that the symbolism that was portrayed in the Kendrick Lamar video would also be portrayed to your film and provide further imagery to the message you are trying to convey. I am excited for further details on your film project!
Hey Masbah,
Your plot has a lot of depth to it.I can totally see it playing out and I’m sure people have had these experiences with cops. It’s sad to think this might be someone’s reality. I’m excited to see your trailer and I hope you find all the shots for this clip.
Hi Masbah, that was a great plot summary. Reading the line “I can’t breathe” is eerie. I think you did a great job intersecting the two previous assignment topics. Looking forward to your trailer.
It has been witnessed many times especially with African Americans and the least that should be expected from the law enforcement is treating all people with decency after all we have only our dignity so of course there should be some push back on how people are treated
Greetings human. I like the idea and how relatable it is to real life. Nowadays, there are tons of video footage of people, especially African Americans, being arrested and roughly handled for the most ABSURD reasons. I have seen videos of cops THROWING KIDS just for JAY WALKING. So the idea of a cop arresting a teenager for littering is not an exaggeration. I personally know someone who wants to be in law enforcement (state trooper) to help change the system internally. He wants to prove that there is a CORRECT way to enforce the law and he wants to be a role model not only for kids, but other cops as well. Great stuff!
